Benjamin: Son of My Right Hand
Father God we thank you for your excellent loving-kindness. We give you glory, honour, and adoration. We bless you and we ask, Lord, that you bless us with the ability to sit at your right hand.
The conclusion of the Christian journey is to meet our King. In Genesis 35 we see the story of Rachel at the birth of Benjamin. “And they journeyed from Bethel; and there was but a little way to come to Ephrath: and Rachel travailed, and she had hard labour. And it came to pass, when she was in hard labour, that the midwife said unto her, Fear not; thou shalt have this son also,” Genesis 30:16–17. Rachel had her son even as she died, and she called him Benoni while his father called him Benjamin, which means “son of my right hand.”
To have the anointing of Benjamin in terms of what is encoded in his name is to become the son of the right hand with the ability to sit at the right hand of God in heaven. In the last twelve devotions we have seen the journey as illustrated in the names of the children of Israel. In Reuben we “behold a son,” the meaning of his name. The word son contrasts to child because it represents maturity. May God give you the grace to mature as a son so that you will get the benefits of sonship.
When you mature, you move into the realm of hearing God and God hearing you, therefore you are in the realm of being attached in the order of Levi. Hearing is the meaning of Simeon’s name. Being joined and attached to God is the meaning of Levi’s name. Yahweh be praised is the meaning of Judah’s name. Dan means judge (God is my judge); Naphtali means wrestling; Gad means invading; Asher means happy; Issachar means the man of hire; Zabulun means dwelling; Joseph means increase; and Benjamin means the son of the right hand. I pray that the process from becoming a son in maturity to hearing God, to being attached and joined to God, to praising Him and having the judgment and wisdom of God, to having the ability to prevail in wrestling by prayer, to becoming an invader in the crusade, to bringing the fortune of souls to the Kingdom, to becoming happy and getting the reward of purchase as a man of hire, to getting to dwell with God, and to enjoying the increase of God, will ultimately take you to the right hand of God.
What did the Lord say to his Son? Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool, Psalm 110:1. When you get to that place where you are the son of the right hand of God, you have been through the process that causes God to make your enemies your footstool.
If you have never accepted Jesus into your life, pray along with me now, “Lord Jesus, I surrender my life to you. Write my name in the book of life. Take me from the position of Rueben as a son who is seen to where I can hear God in the order of Simeon, to where I will be attached to God in the order of Levi, to where I will praise God in the order of Judah, to where I will have the judgment and wisdom of God in the order of Dan, to where I will wrestle and prevail in the order of Naphtali, to where I will be an invader with the troop and get the good fortune in the order of Gad, to where I will be happy in the order of Asher, that I will get my hire in the order of Issachar, that I will dwell with God in the order of Zebulun, and increase in the order of Joseph so that I will get to become the son of the right hand of the living God in the order of Benjamin.”
Whatever stage we are experiencing now, Lord I pray that you will carry us through. Deliver us from evil on this path from earth to heaven. Guide us with your eye and guide us with your Word. We are your blood-bought children, purchased by the blood of Jesus, connected by Calvary to the covenant of Sonship. Holy Father let your Word work and let us experience the blessings in the names of the children of Israel, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
