Scripture Reading: Psalm 16:11
“Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”
Father, draw us into your Presence. Draw us close to you and keep us there, O living God, in the powerful name of Jesus.
God desires that you enter into His Presence, for in His Presence, He can do the things that He wants to do for you. He also desires that you dwell there. His Presence should not be a place you visit, but the place you live, your permanent address.
There are many benefits of remaining in God’s Presence. Psalm 97:5 says, “The hills melted like wax at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.” Psalm 114:7 says “Tremble, thou earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob.” When problems as enormous and unshakeable as mountains reach you, in God’s Presence, they will melt like wax. The God of the whole earth will cause everything to align to His divine will for your life. According to Jeremiah 29:11, His will is for peace and not of evil, to bring you to an expected end. God can do it for He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He is the one who can make a way where there seems to be no way. He is the God of the “suddenlies,” because He can suddenly turn your life around. If you are a Christian, you must have a testimony of the God of the “suddenlies.” He is a loving Father who will never let you down, die, or rescind His purposes for your life. He will suddenly do it again, so be encouraged.
Another benefit of our Father’s presence is joy. When you are in the presence of God, times of refreshing come, Acts 3:19.
And Psalm 16:11 says, “Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” Many believers are suffering because their joy is not full; they are happy in one area but terribly miserable in other areas. God is saying, “Come into my presence and your joy will be full in Jesus’ name.” Only God can give you what you need. Come into His Presence and dwell there.
Dwell in His Presence by meditating on His Word and through prayer and worship. Psalm 100:2 says, “Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.” No matter your situation, if you resolve to come into God’s presence with singing, with the appreciation of your worship, there is nothing God cannot do for you.
As much as we yearn to stay in His Presence, there is one thing that takes us away from it: sin. Remember Adam and Eve?
They were running and trying to hide from His Presence because they had sinned.
Remember Cain? After killing his brother, Cain left the presence of God to dwell in the land of Nod because he was afraid that God would judge him. Many of us, like Cain, are in a place called Nod, which actually means roaming. We are paying roaming charges and the cost of roaming. We are going through needless pains and challenges because sin has caused us to roam away from the presence of God. But even in the land of Nod, when Cain turned to God, God answered His prayers.
Jesus died to pay the price for all of our sins. You do not have to run away, because you are not guilty if you believe in Jesus. Give your life to Him; be born again and receive the covering of the blood of Jesus. Only with this covering can you be made righteous so that you can enter into His Presence.
Pray with me now if you are not born again: “Lord Jesus, I surrender my life to you. Write my name in the book of life. Fill me with your Holy Spirit and draw me into your Presence. Let me experience the time of refreshing in God’s presence and let me receive the blessings of the presence of God. In the name of Jesus, I pray.”
Father God Almighty, like David in Psalm 51:11, we are praying, “Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.” God, in your mercy, give us the grace to seek you with all our hearts. May we find you and dwell in your Presence where we will enjoy the full benefits of the life you have given us in the name of Jesus. Amen.
