Kings and Priests of the Kingdom
Scripture Reading: Proverbs 31: 4–5
“It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink: Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.”
Kings and Priests of the Kingdom
The Bible says, “It is not for kings to drink wine; nor princes strong drink.” However, it allows strong drink, in essence, alcohol, for people in these three categories:
1. People who have stomach problems and frequent infirmities, or those who are anticipating to be put in that category by drinking alcohol.
2. Those who are ready to perish and really have no focus or goal in life. They have given up on life and are awaiting destruction and death. Proverbs 31:6,7 says, “Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts. Let him drink and forget his poverty and remember his misery no more.”
3. Those who are with heavy hearts and have no hope and are in despair. They drink in order to forget their poverty and to remember their misery no more.
By the grace of God, as Christians, we are not classified as those with infirmities and no hope of healing, for by the stripes of Jesus Christ we are healed. We are His light in the world.
We will live to proclaim the goodness of God in the land of the living . The joy of the Lord is our strength, so we are not bound to sorrow. We are encouraged by the fact that we are a chosen generation, a peculiar people, a royal people made up of kings and priests in Christ Jesus, who is the King of kings. It is not for us to drink alcohol, lest we forget the law and pervert our holy judgment.
We have been made kings and priests unto God, Revelation 1:6. May God give us a consciousness of who we are in Christ Jesus. May He give us the grace to comport ourselves like royalty because we are. May God give us a good sense of judgment, clarity of mind, and perfect vision for today and His coming kingdom.
God’s kingdom will never be destroyed. The kingdoms of Babylon, Persia, Greece and Rome came and were destroyed. They are now history. The present nationalistic states of weak and strong nations will also give way to the Kingdom of the Messiah; and of His Kingdom there shall be no end.
God has promised us a kingdom that has no end, the Kingdom of the Messiah, our Lord Jesus Christ, the King of kings in whose government there shall be no end. Whether we are aware of it or not, we are at the threshold of the establishment of that kingdom during these end times. It is time for us to manifest the virtues of royal priests, for 1 Peter 2:9 says ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people.
Prayer Points:
Pray that God will give you a revelation of His coming kingdom and make you a soul winner who will bring in many souls to facilitate the establishment of His government. Pray that God send his ministering angels to sanctify you and make you great in His coming kingdom. Show forth the praises of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. Keep yourselves pure as kings and priests of the Everlasting Kingdom.
