Open Heavens
Scripture Reading: Mark 1:1–11
“And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan. And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased,” Mark 1:9–11.
Open Heavens
Father God, we thank you for the priviledge of worshipping the great I AM. We thank you, because you are full of grace and truth. We pray that the spirit of grace and truth will fill us this day, that the sin nature of Adam will depart from us and make way for the Spirit of God. We know that wherever the Lord Jesus resides, there the star stands as a sign that He is in residence. We pray that that star will stand upon our homes, our lives, and our ministries. We pray that we will worship the great I AM, and will proclaim that Jesus Christ indeed has been born and we are born again in Him. Because He is in us, we have come out of darkness and the light of God is shining in us; darkness cannot comprehend us.
“The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God; As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. And there went out unto him all the land of Judea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins. And John was clothed with camel’s hair, and with a girdle of a skin about his loins; and he did eat locusts and wild honey; And preached, saying, There cometh one mightier than I after me, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to stoop down and unloose. I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost,” Mark 1:1–8.
At the end of this passage we see where God confirmed and ordained Jesus as the Son of God. Beloved, beyond the star and the glory of its light as a Christian, there is a challenge. You must ask yourself, if the Spirit of God has descended upon you, if the heavens are open upon you, if the voice of God has spoken to you and confirmed to you that you are His
child and He is well pleased with you. It is not enough to claim that we are Christians; the light of God must also dwell in us.
That light must shine in a manner that darkness can never comprehend. Furthermore, we must understand that when we have been called out of darkness, we must begin to live life in the light of the glory of God. The light that stood above the residence of Jesus as a baby is that light that still shines through believers today. You will also be filled with the experience of heavens opening for you and the Holy Spirit descending upon you, and the voice of God speaking and confirming that you are indeed a child of God. Open heavens deliver divine affirmation, divine assistance, divine provision and angels ascending with your requests and descending with your answers. I pray that today these experiences will be a reality in your life.
Prayer Points
May the light of God shine upon your life today. May the Spirit of God descend through your open heavens and take permanent residence in you, and may the voice of God be heard affirming and confirming, within and without, that you are a child of God. May the windows of heaven open over your life and pour you out a blessing more than you have room enough to receive. May God rebuke the devourer for your sake and bless you in every nation under the heavens. Amen.
