Jesus Is Your Ransom
Scripture Reading: Job 33
“If there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to shew unto man his uprightness: Then he is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom,” Job 33:23–24.
Jesus Is Your Ransom
Father God, we praise you. We give you all glory and all honour. We thank you for our Ransom, Jesus. Lord, we glorify your holy name and ask, in your mercy, that you give us the grace of faith in you; the kind of faith to become who you designed us to be. Give us the grace to believe you, O Lord, and as we believe in the ransom provided by Jesus, may all things work together for our good in Jesus’ name.
We learn that God often speaks to us “In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed; then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction, That he may withdraw man from his purpose and hide pride from man,” Job 33:15–17. God imparts instructions through personal encounters, in dreams, in visions; He seals instructions to warn us, and also to direct us, to give us understanding of future events. If we respond we are delivered, guided and grow in understanding, in the ways of the Lord concering future events; but often we get warnings in a dream and ignore them. Remember that the one who is giving you a chance to repent is the one who can act on your life in any way He wants. He is not accountable to anyone and it is of His mercies that we are not consumed.
“He keepth back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword. He is chastened also with pain upon his bed, and the multitude of his bones with strong pain,” Job 33:18–19. His life will begin to abhor bread, his flesh is consumed away, his bones stick out, and his soul draws near to the grave and his life to the destroyers, verses 20–22. This is a man or woman who is in the doldrums but there is also kindness with our God. If there is a messenger among the thousands to show man His uprightness, then the Lord is gracious and delivers him from the pit, verses 23–24. God has supplied the ransom and man can be redeemed. The one who is the Messenger, the Interpreter, the one among thousands to show to man His uprightness is Jesus. The one who will come and tell you to repent is Jesus Himself.
To those who respond to His offer of ransom, their flesh shall be fresher than a child’s: “…he shall return to the days of his youth: He shall pray unto God, and he will be favourable unto him: and he shall see his face with joy: for he will render unto man his righteousness. He looketh upon men, and if any say I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it profited me not; He will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see light. Lo, all these things worketh God oftentimes with man, To bring back his soul from the pit, to be enlightened with the light of the living,” Job 33:25–30.
Jesus is your ransom, the one who can deliver you from going down into the pit. God has warned us in dreams, in visions, and with His Word, but some are not hearing. Some of us do not understand dreams and visions, but are in pain and turmoil. I come with the message of our Lord Jesus and I say to you, if you be found in Christ He will ransom you from destruction.
Prayer Points:
The Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, the one who is the suitable ransom, is calling you today. If you surrender your life to Him you will be found in Him. Determine where you are now and pray, “Lord Jesus I come to you to be ransomed. I accept you as my personal Lord and Saviour. Deliver me from going down to the pit.” Amen.
