Fresh Oil III
Scripture Reading: Isaiah 45:15

Fresh Oil III
The Word of the Lord for us today says that God hides Himself. Yes we need “fresh oil” when we feel that God is far off; when we just don’t feel His Presence; when there is an absence of His Presence in our circumstances, especially for those of us who are Christians, born of His Spirit and washed in His blood.
Beloved, today if you feel that God is hiding Himself from you, just smile because it means He is active on your behalf. We cannot know Jesus unless He reveals Himself to us. God seeks you; it is He who sought you out. Psalm 10:1 says, “Why standest thou afar off, O Lord? Why hidest thyself in times of trouble?” God is seeking you. He is looking for a relationship with you; God is looking for you to look for Him. Sometimes He seems far because He wants you to miss His Presence and to say, “Lord I need you. I need more of you. I feel dry and need your Presence.” No one has seen God, but God has been revealed to us through His Son, Jesus. It is not a lack of faith to wonder where God is. But it is a lack of faith to perpetually wonder where He is. From time to time we feel that God is far. Yes, even our Lord Jesus felt that way when He said, “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?” Matthew 27:46. But God never forsook Him. On our part we need to examine our lives, and confess and forsake everything that makes God seem far.
God may sometimes hide Himself or it may seem like He has hidden Himself, but generally we are hiding from God because of the consciousness of our sins. But God never forsakes us. We have to get to that place where we can say, “Lord, even without an answer, I will trust you.” I will stabilize my faith with trust.
What should you do when you feel the absence of God, when you feel that you need a fresh consciousness of God’s Presence? First of all beloved, it is important to know that it is not absence but silence. Maturity is not bestowed; it is grown. When He wants us to mature in the things of God, He appears to be far away so we can begin to seek Him like never before. He said to us, “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee,” Hebrew 13:5. God wants deep intimacy with us. When God is silent it makes us get serious with prayer. It gives us the grace to learn to wait on God. If you feel His silence it means you have felt His nearness, and there is a consolation that the silence will pass. Step beyond the fixation and go forward with God; begin to pray like you have never prayed before. Get out of the sense of abandonment, get out of fear, and get out of feeling that you have been left behind; get out of your human efforts and just make a godly effort. Pray until something happens. Praise until something happens.
We all need fresh oil because yesterday’s anointing is not good enough for today’s challenges. We need to go to God every day. Get deeper and deeper every day. Draw nearer to God and He will draw nearer to you. Seek Him with all your heart, and you will find Him in a new way.
Prayer Points:
Lord, I need fresh oil this day and I thank you that you have promised that when we ask, we shall receive. Lord, I need more of your love. I need more of you in my life. I am looking for you: I cannot find you. Father God I need you to do something new in my life today; do something marvelous in my life today; do something powerful in my life today. Lord, I desire fresh oil that I might be able to have a deeper relationship with you. Lord, I miss your Presence. Lord, I need you now more than I have ever needed you. Lord, talk to me. Lord, encourage me; give me a song in my spirit. I praise you and I worship you in Jesus’ name.
