From Such Turn Away
Scripture Reading: 2 Timothy 3:1–7
“For men shall be lovers of their own selves . . . Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away,” 2 Timothy 3:2-5.
From Such Turn Away
Father God, we thank you for your glory, for you are worthy to be praised. We thank you because you are Alpha and Omega, and we bless your holy name. We ask, Lord, that you continue to teach us how to live this Christian life; how to walk the path of life in you. Father, help us to go from grace to grace, strength to strength, glory to glory, until we reach your throne. There we will fall adoringly at your feet for you have led us safely through all things. Father, be magnified in our lives today in Jesus’ name.
“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, truce breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good. Traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth,” 2 Timothy 3:1–7.
The Bible advises us today that in our Christian walk we are in the last days, and that this is a dangerous time and that dangerous people abound. We thank God that He will not leave us without protection or direction. Today, I pray that God will give us the grace to assimilate this caution, this advice that will deliver us from evil.
Turn away from those who are lovers of themselves. Since they are selfish, they are covetous; everything they see they want for themselves. They are also boasters: when they accumulate, they want people to know; so you hear them perpetually boasting. The Bible says, “from such turn away.” Then it says that their boasting leads to pride, and to an attitude that is not of God. They do not retain God in their hearts. They also blaspheme and turn the Word of God upside down.
Turn away from all those who are out of order, disobedient to parents, unthankful and unholy. The disobedient are rebellious, and rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft. To them anything that is right and in order clashes with their fleshly presumptions of what is
Turn away from those without natural affection. It is natural that a man have affection for a woman, and vice versa. It is unnatural for a man to have affection for a man, or a woman for a woman, or a person for an animal. Some will tell you that they were born that way, but God did not create them for such. He has a better plan for their lives that they are yet to realize. Parents should also love their children, but some do not; family love is unknown to them. O Father, deliver us from every error in Jesus’
Turn away from truce breakers for they do not like peace. If peace comes into their environment, they find a way to destroy it. Still others are false accusers. They would accuse the Lord if they could get away with it. They will accuse to confuse. They are incontinent, fierce, and despisers of those who do good. They are traitors, heady, high-minded, and lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God. The lovers of pleasure are intriguing; they have a form of godliness and can be found in a church environment, but they deny the power thereof.
Concerning people who fit these descriptions, the Bible tells us, “from such turn away.” Do not even get into dialogue, debate, or discussion with them. Excuse yourself. Instruction is clear because these are perilous times; these are the last days. According to the Word of God, these people are ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. You cannot see the results in their lives of the things that they have been learning for years.
Christianity is a reconciliatory life, but in these last days the devil has released certain spirits. 2 Timothy 3 states clearly the personalities of these demonic spirits. The Bible encourages you, beloved, “from such turn away!”
Prayer Points:
If any of you fit these descriptions, I dare say that you are not born again yet. If you are uncomfortable with this description of you, then it is time for you to make a change. Jesus is the only one who can make you brand new. Pray with me now, “Lord Jesus, I surrender my life to you. Deliver me from these evil and demonic personalities that would seek to operate in my life. Give me the grace to be filled with your Spirit to live the Christian life in Jesus’ name.” Amen.
