Evolving into a Wonder

Evolving into a Wonder

Father God, thank you because our lives are in your hands. Thank you because by your grace and your power, we will evolve into a wonder.

God’s plan is for you to be a wonder: to acquire greatness and experience His comfort. Your life should evidence miraculous works since you are God’s child.

The Bible discusses what it means to be a wonder: “I am as a wonder unto many; but thou art my strong refuge. . . . Thou shalt increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side. I will also praise thee with the psaltery, even thy truth, O my God: unto thee will I sing with the harp, O thou Holy One of Israel. My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing unto thee; and my soul, which thou hast redeemed. My tongue also shall talk of thy righteousness all the day long: for they are confounded, for they are brought unto shame, that seek my hurt,” Psalm 71:7, 21–24.

In these verses, David says he is a wonder to many. The key to being a wonder is found in verse 21. God has to increase your greatness and comfort you on every side: financially, spiritually, and emotionally. This can only happen when the Spirit of God comes upon you. The Spirit of God came upon David because David brought out the Spirit of God through his praise.

If someone came to you every day singing your praises, worshipping you, and complimenting you, wouldn’t you increase the person’s greatness if you could?

David said his soul rejoiced greatly when he sang unto the Lord. Does your soul rejoice when you praise God or are you just singing along with the worship leaders and going through the motions? Those who worship God must worship Him in spirit and truth, John 4:23–24. According to this psalm, David praised God with psaltery and truth; he praised God with the harp. God deserves your heartfelt praise.

David further says that he will talk about God’s righteousness for God confounded his enemies. When your praise is sincere, God will confound those who become upset with you because you have evolved into a wonder. Be filled with the praise of God so that His Spirit will come upon you and cause wonderful things to happen in your life.

The New Testament also provides some insight into being a wonder: “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord,” 2 Corinthians 3:18. Here, becoming a wonder means being transformed into the image of Jesus by the Spirit of God. This encompasses the idea of possessing greatness and being comforted, as we saw in Psalm 71.

The first step to becoming a wonder, according to this verse in Corinthians, is to look to Jesus, the ultimate wonder. If you behold the glory of God, you will be changed into His image. Just as the Psalms testified, this New Testament verse also states that the Holy Spirit is the only means by which we can evolve into a wonder. May the Spirit of the living God descend upon you right now. May becoming a wonder be your reality in the name of Jesus.

Prayer Points:

If you have never given your life to Jesus, now is the time to do so. Pray with me, “Dear Lord Jesus, I surrender my life to you. Fill me with your Spirit and take me also from glory to glory.”

O gracious living God, may your name be glorified in your children. Give us the grace to behold your glory in Jesus’ name. Pour out your Spirit upon us so we who are for signs and wonders will begin to evolve into wonders. Let us keep going from wonder to wonder so that our first names indeed will be wonderful because our Father is wonderful.
