Ministerial Divine Connection
Scripture Reading: I Kings 19:15-19
“So he departed thence, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him…and Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him,” I Kings 19:19
Ministerial Divine Connection
Lord we want to be led into our divine connection, and into our divine purpose; we want to be led into our company of agreement. Lord we want to be led into perfect relationships; and O Holy Spirit, restrain us from straying. Keep us in the presence of God, I pray in Jesus name.
I Kings 19: 15-19 reads, “And the Lord said unto him, Go, return on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when thou comest, anoint Hazael to be king over Syria: And Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou anoint to be king over Israel: and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abelmeholah shalt thou anoint to be prophet in thy room. And it shall come to pass, that him that escapeth the sword of Hazael shall Jehu slay: and him that escapeth from the sword of Jehu shall Elisha slay. Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal and every mouth which hath not kissed him. So he departed thence, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth; and Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him.”
There is a divine connection in ministry that has to do with mantles. In this story of divine connection we see where God is giving instructions to Elijah to anoint and appoint Elisha to be prophet in his room. In other words God was informing Elijah that his season of working on this side of eternity was coming to an end, and he needed to anoint his replacement. “…and Elijah passed by him, (Elisha) and cast his mantle upon him,” I Kings 19:19.
In other words, He put his cloak on him, signifying that Elisha was now under his covering. Elisha understood the requirements of the divine connection and requested to be permitted to kiss his father and mother goodbye and follow Elijah. When God decided that it was time to position another prophet in the place of Elijah, He told him who it was and said go meet him and anoint him in your room. And Elijah did what God told him to do. Of course in that ministry we saw how it ended when it was now time for Elijah to be taken up. The Bible says Elisha asked for a double portion of Elijah’s anointing because he had ministered to him.
The connection between Elijah and Elisha was divine; it was supernatural and extraordinary. In ministry, you will have connections that are of convenience,
because of compatibility, and your carnal nature likes the people, but I pray that God will give you a sensitivity to divine connections in the ministerial realm.
Like Elijah, you will put your cloak over your replacement and groom him and pray that a double portion of your anointing be upon him. It is said that success without a successor is a failure. If you are very good and there is no one to continue your work when your season is over then you haven’t really done well. We need to pray for the grace to be mentored by being under someone’s mantle, and also to be able to mentor other people, and cause them to continue in our office.
Many have gifts that are not being used to mentor other people. Some are sitting on their gift and it is not profitable to the kingdom. Brethren this ought not to be so.
There is a ministerial divine connection between Elijah and Elisha. I pray if you are an Elijah hearing this message, you will pray for a divine connection with your Elisha. If you are an Elisha, pray for a ministerial divine connection with your Elijah that will cause you to receive the covering and the grooming you need, so that you will become an effective minister to the glory of God, in the kingdom of God, in the name of Jesus.
Prayer points:
I pray that God will connect you to your Elijah and Elisha, united in service to the assignment God has given you. I pray that God will give you the mighty men and the everlasting lovers that will encourage your life in this world that is full of discouragement. I pray that God will give you the ministerial connection in the name of Jesus. How can this be? The Holy Ghost must come upon you. The power of the Most High must over shadow you so that you will begin to have your divine ministerial connection in the name of Jesus.
