The Battles of Our Lives
Scripture Reading: Romans 8
“There is now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.” Romans 8:1-2.
The Battles of Our Lives
Father God, we thank you for the priviledge of life in Jesus Christ who sets us free from the law of sin and death. We glorify your holy name because there is no condemnation now working against us; you have purposed victory for us. Lord God Almighty, today I pray that you will give us a divine revelation of the battles of our lives.
Why do we have battles when we are on the mountaintop?
The Word of God in Romans 8:1-5 is clear: “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.”
Romans 8:6-8 says it succinctly: to be carnally minded is death, to be spiritually minded is life. “But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if we live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of the God,” verses 9–14.
Life is a battle we have won because there is no condemnation against us. When we allow the Spirit of God to lead, we are sons of God and we receive inheritance, benefits, and priviledges from God. We face battles, because life is a battle. The “kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force,” Matthew 11:12. The battles are bridges that take us higher and higher in our spiritual development. Also, because every stage affects other people’s destinies and other events in the kingdom, God places restlessness in our spirit to prompt us to act. Sometimes we are passive and sometimes we face challenges with less aggression than the battle demands.
May God make us sensitive to the needs of the battle.
Mountaintop battles are tests to bring forth testimony, and trials to bring forth triumph. God wants us to shake off spiritual laziness. He wants us to understand that the more we pray the more we discover, the more we discover the more we recover, the more we recover the more focused we become; the more focused we become, the more success we have; the more success we have, the further our destiny moves forward: we are meant to be great.
I pray that God will give us the grace to understand that the weapons of mountaintop warfare are not carnal; they are mighty through God toward pulling down strongholds. I pray that God will give us the grace to confront our adversaries like David did when he defeated Goliath. I pray that God will give us the grace of thanksgiving and adoration because worshipping God opens doors to our appointed placements. I pray that God will give us the grace to bind evil activities so that we release His blessings into our life. May God give us the grace to pray for others. God has given us the gift of intercession; intercede without ceasing.
Life is a battle even from the womb. Coming through delivery at birth, learning to walk and run, and finding our destiny is a battle. Be battle ready from conquest to conquest, for many destinies await our victory. Arise and face every battle with courage because victory is assured in Jesus’ name.
Prayer Points:
You cannot successfully face battles in your life without the King of kings, the Lord Jesus. If you have never given your life to Jesus, pray, “Lord Jesus, I accept you as my Lord and Saviour. Write my name in the book of life. Make me a born- again Christian and let me experience victory in every battle in my life in Jesus’ name.” Amen.
