Divine Shepherding
Scripture Reading: Psalm 23
“ . . . he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake,” Psalm 23:3.
Divine Shepherding
Father God, we thank you because no matter what the world and the economy are saying you are our Shepherd and we shall not want. It does not matter how many banks fail, how many people are confused, or how many people are cast down, it shall not come nigh us because you are our Shepherd and our divine manager. We thank you because you have given us the grace to sign on to that divine management contract where you do not take commissions, you do not charge agency fees, you do not wipe out our profits. Instead, you pour profit into our lives.
Let us read Psalm 23, that famous psalm of divine management. Have you signed that contract? Are you allowing the divine to manage you? Is the Lord your shepherd? Are you experiencing lack? I encourage you to press on; to commit to His management; follow the great Shepherd of the sheep and you shall not want. Psalm 23 says, “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.” Father God, thank you for shepherding us.
Lord, I pray that you will convert us to sheep. It is easy for us to recite this psalm, to read it and be comforted and encouraged, but we want to experience its reality. Father, many of us have been arguing with you, debating with you.
Convert us to sheep today that we will experience the blessings of your shepherding. In every way we have been arguing with you, and suffering in lack. Give us the grace to agree with you, to go from argument to agreement, so that you will be our Shepherd; so we will not want in the name of Jesus.
Some are not lying in green pastures but on rocks, because they are still arguing with God and are not in agreement with the great Shepherd. May God carry us all from argument to agreement with God; may He carry us from the rocks to the green pastures.
When you go from argument to agreement with God, you will experience and enjoy all the benefits of divine shepherding.
The Bible says when He shepherds us he restores our soul. Some of us need restoration of our souls because we are emotionally confused and disoriented. The soul is the seat of our intellect and our emotions. It is so confused with the world, with the baggage we are carrying into the Kingdom that we need restoration of our emotions. We have many painful emotions due to disappointments and heartbreaks, and expectations that never become reality. We are so pained that we need restoration of our souls. The way to get this restoration, this refreshment of our soul is to get into agreement with God. Get out of argument and into agreement with the great Shepherd, the Lord Jesus our own Emmanuel, the one who shepherds you so you will not want; the only one who is able to restore your soul today.
The Bible says when we are under divine shepherding, He will lead us into paths of righteousness for His namesake. God has a rod and a staff: the staff of authority and the rod of correction. Blessed is he whom the Lord corrects, Psalm 94:12. Blessed is he whom the Lord corrects because he will walk in the righteous path and will get into the destiny God has designed. If you cannot take correction, if you are full of argument against the Word, you argue with your pastor, you argue with every teacher, and have criticism for everyone who brings the Word to you, today, I pray that you move from argument to agreement with the Lord and His Word in the name of Jesus.
The Bible says if you agree with Him, He will anoint your head with oil so that your cup will run over. In times of lack and calamity, you will experience an overflow. When you agree with God, surely goodness and mercy shall follow you all the days of your life and you will dwell in the house of the Lord forever, Psalm 23:6. You will have eternal life; the residual anointing that will give you the grace to to rise up and ascend with the saints on the day of resurrection morning, when the Lord will come to collect His sheep, and you will be in His Presence forever.
Prayer Points:
If you have never given your life to Jesus, it is time for you to pray now, “Lord Jesus, I want to sign that divine management contract. I want to be one of your sheep. Deliver me from argument, and give me the grace to agree with God and submit to His divine shepherding, in Jesus’ name.” Amen.
