Releasing the Prisoners of Hope
Scripture Reading: Proverbs 13:12
“Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.”
Releasing the Prisoners of Hope
Can one be imprisoned by hope? There are many who spend their lives hoping for something that is baseless. That is when people are imprisoned by hope. Hope means the expectation of a future good, something better. Hope is expecting something that you consider the best to happen and you are willing to wait for it. If you perpetually hope for something but it is not happening, perhaps you are in the prison of hope. If you started a long time ago hoping for a breakthrough in one area or the other and year-in year-out it remains just hope, there is no delight, no reality, and no manifestation, perhaps you are imprisoned by hope.
Do not defer my hope, O Lord, and save me from heartsickness in the name of Jesus. Lord I ask, heal me from every depression, disillusionment, discouragement that is affecting my walk with you because of deferred hope that has made my heart sick. O Lord, give me the grace today to objectively examine my hope so that if in any way the devil has locked me up and imprisoned me in hope, I might experience a divine release today in the name of Jesus.
The Bible says in Zechariah 9:12, “Turn you to the strong hold, ye prisoners of hope: even today do I declare that I will render double unto thee.” Today, the Lord is setting you free in the name of Jesus from every stronghold that is not of God.
Today, you need to identify your stronghold. Your stronghold as a Christian should be the Word of God. Lively hope is an expectation of a future good backed by the Word of God. If not, it is a baseless hope. Today God will release you from that which imprisons, the baseless hope in the name of Jesus.
Hope is not a parking lot or a destination; it is a bridge to success. Hope is a bridge that is supposed to take you from where you are to the expected future good. It is supposed to carry you along. There has to be progressive change in your hope if it is based on the Word of God. If it is not, today you will release that hope and set yourself free by the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Hope is the foundation upon which we build our faith. We substantiate our hope and we build our faith on it. There is substance in your hope if it can be backed-up by the Word of God . If your hope is based on the Word of God then it is a lively hope because the Word of God is quick and it is lively.
Today, examine yourself and ask, “What am I hoping for? Does it have a basis in the Scriptures? Can I back it up?” Today, ask God to bring to pass every hope that is based on His Word and to give you the grace to delete that which is not based on His Word. Pray and ask “Lord, take me to that expected end. Let me not be parked on the bridge of hope.
For hope is a bridge not a destination. I have been hoping for this breakthrough, but Lord it is not happening. Let your Word work in my life today. Everything that is stopping me from getting to that destination, everything that is stopping that expected future good, Lord God Almighty, fight with it today. O Lord, fight against them that are fighting against what I am hoping for that is based on the Word of God. Lord, take hold of shield and buckler and stand up for my hope. Let my hope make progress today to that expected end, O Lord.
Let me not hope in vain. Let your Word work in my life, in the name of Jesus.”
Prayer Points:
Father, I ask you to deliver me from false hope; false meaning that is not backed-up by the Word of God. Lord, today divinely release me from every false hope. Lord, help me to hope in your Word so your Word can work in my life.
If you do not know the Lord Jesus, pray and say, “Dear Lord Jesus, I accept you as my Lord and Saviour. Lord, write my name in the book of life.” However, if you are a Christian and you are hoping for something based on the Word, believe God. Keep hoping it will come through because His Word is true and it works all the time. If your hope is not based on the Word of God, release it today and be released from the prison of hope in the name of Jesus. Amen.
