The Remnant
Scripture Reading: Zephaniah 3:13
“The remnant of Israel shall not do iniquity, nor speak lies; neither shall a deceitful tongue be found in their mouth: for they shall feed and lie down, and none shall make them afraid.”
The Remnant
What is the remnant? The remnant is a small number of Christians reserved unto God. Would it not be wonderful to be counted among the remnant of God, among those who will stand for God even if they are in the minority; those who hold onto the Word and say they agree with the Word of God, who are part of that small number of people reserved to God? The remnant is the spiritual kernel of God’s people who will form the germ, the nucleus of the new people of God. They are reserved by God. They are preserved by God and will not bow to Baal or any other god. The remnant will neither practice idolatry nor be in compromise. Each will be consecrated to God as a holy person, dedicated to holiness unto the Lord, and faithful to His Word.
The remnant, according to Romans 11:5, consists of the elect; they are holy. The Lord knows His remnant and even the world knows the remnant. My prayer is that God will evolve and upgrade us in our Christian walk to be part of His remnant, part of those reserved for Him.
In Zechariah 8:11-12 the Word of God says, “But now I will not be unto the residue [the residue means the remnant] of this people as in the former days, saith the Lord of hosts. For the seed [the remnant] shall be prosperous; the vine shall give her fruit, and the ground shall give her increase, and the heavens shall give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to possess all these things.” Yes, the remnant is blessed. They are blessed above all people; they are blessed still. Their steps are ordered by the Lord, because they are led by the spirit of the Lord. Jeremiah 15:11 affirms that it shall be very well with the remnant. They are so blessed that they bring a refreshing to dry places because they are like the dew of the Lord. God gathers the remnant. My prayer is that God upgrades us all to be part of His remnant. God protects the remnant and the remnant takes root downward and bears fruit upwards. God revives the remnant! Blessed be God who always makes us to prosper.
Are you among the remnant of God or are you just one of the multitude? There is a need for upgrade, beloved. There is the need to be part of that spiritual kernel, the seed. When in the summer you get the ripe fruit of the peach, you see the part that can be eaten, because it is ripe, it looks nice, and people buy the peaches and eat them up. But guess what? The remnant cannot be eaten up. The seed cannot be chewed up. You eat up the flesh, but the seed is there. Yes, in the Kingdom of God you find the same three levels. You have the cover; those who just have a covering, the skin of Christianity. Their Christianity is only skin deep. Then you have the flesh, the body, the Christians who are very carnal. Finally, you have the kernel, the seed, the pit or stone; those who cannot be touched. They are so strong in the Lord and stand for the Lord because they stand on the Word. They are the spiritual remnant of the living God.
My prayer today is that God will upgrade us to be part of the remnant. The remnant consists of the people who practice holiness. When they practice holiness without compromising, God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit in their combined forces come and work together for their good, and good things happen around them. Miracles happen, revivals happen, all kinds of good things begin to happen around them and that brings in the multitudes to see the wonders that God is doing. But the seed is always the same. What you find out is that wherever you find seed, wherever you find the remnant, holiness is practiced. Wherever the remnant is, there is always peace, there is always joy; there is always the manifestation of the fruit of the Spirit and the gifts of the Spirit, because the remnant is the nucleus of God’s people.
Beloved, are you part of the remnant of God? I pray that God, in his mercy, will give you a hunger to be part of the remnant.
Prayer Points:
Let us pray today and say, “Lord God, upgrade my spiritual walk with you and make me part of the people you call your remnant. Make me holy, Lord. Deliver me from doing iniquity, from speaking lies, from a deceitful tongue, O Lord. Let none make me afraid. Number me among the blessed in the midst of many people, O Lord. Let your dew from heaven fall upon me; let my seed be prosperous. Lord God Almighty, let the ground give her increase; let my heavens open and give their dew. Let me truly be part of your remnant in my generation in the name of Jesus I pray.”
If you have never given your life to Jesus, you cannot be part of the remnant. To accept Jesus Christ and receive His Holy Spirit, pray and say, “Lord Jesus write my name in the book of life. I surrender my life to you. Make me part of your remnant, O Lord.” If you are already part of the remnant walking with God, we agree that God will promote us from minimum to maximum, from good to better, from better to best to the glory of God Almighty in Jesus’ name.
