The River of the Holy Spirit

Scripture Reading: Ezekiel 47:9

“And it shall come to pass, that every thing that liveth, which moveth, whithersoever the rivers shall come, shall live: and there shall be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters shall come thither: for they shall be healed; and every thing shall live whither the river cometh.”

The River of the Holy Spirit

Father, hold our hands today, especially the hands of those who are not flowing with your Spirit; those who have no revelation of your Spirit and His leading.  I pray that a new work will begin today, that those who are alive will move where the river is flowing so that they can live more abundantly in Jesus’ name.

Today’s verse is full of symbolism. The river signifies the Holy Spirit, and the fish represent souls. This passage interpreted means that every living thing that moves wherever the Holy Spirit moves will live. It also teaches that a great multitude of souls will be saved. Where the river flows, there is an abundance of life, trees, and greenery. In the desert, where there is no river flowing, there is only dry land. Where would you rather be? I pray that God in His mercy will deliver you from dryness and take you into the river of the Holy Spirit.

Psalm 1:1-3 speaks of the benefits of being planted by the river; planted in the Holy Spirit: “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall

prosper.” True prosperity comes when you are walking in the Spirit. When you are planted by the river of the Holy Spirit you will bring forth fruit: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance, Galatians 5:22–23. By the river, your leaves shall not wither; you will have abundant life; there will be increase and excellence.

Beloved, it is time to jump into the river of the Holy Spirit. Let Him bring you to new depths in prayer, worship, holiness, and prosperity because the Word of God says that whatever He does prospers.  Prospering means that you are enabled to receive blessings.  It means you are in the right spiritual location: flowing with the river of the Holy Spirit. You only begin to prosper and bloom when you are flowing with the Holy Spirit.

Prayer Points:

You cannot flow with the Holy Spirit unless you are born again; so if you are not born again please pray, “Dear Lord Jesus, I surrender my life to you. I confess and forsake my sins. Cleanse me from my sins with your blood and write my name in the book of life. Bless me with the born-again experience and let me flow with the river of the Holy Spirit that I may live life more abundantly in Jesus’ name.”

O Lord, deliver us from the diversions that take us to dryness. Carry us to the river of the Holy Spirit, so that we may flow with Him to the place where you prepare a table in the presence of our enemies; to the divine hospital where there is healing; to the place of divine assurance where we do not need to worry about our health insurance.  O Father, carry us; lead us on.  In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
