The Good Way

Scripture Reading: Jeremiah 6:16

“Thus saith the Lord, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.”

The Good Way

Heavenly Father, thank you for the priviledge of your settled Word, your Word that never changes. Thank you for your people,th e remnant, who practice holiness, cooperate with the Holy Spirit, and maintain the standards of God.

We live in a time when many are practicing convenient Christianity. People are walking in liberty, as they say, but actually, they are walking contrary to the Word of God.  Do they not know the end times are upon us? They are walking on the path that leads to the furnace of hell.

“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind: Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away. So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth,” Matthew 13:47–50.

Beloved, if the Bible says something is going to happen, it will happen.  The Bible says that the angels shall come and sever the wicked from the just. When that day of selection comes, where will you be? Will you be gathered among the good or will you be cast away? I pray that God in His mercy will save our souls so that we, being those chosen as good and just, find rest for our souls.  How can we be good and just?  We are to

ask for the old paths, the good way, and walk therein and in doing so will find rest for our souls.  In order to experience rest for your soul, you must stop sitting around in sin; stop lying down when you should be awake praying. Stand in the ways of salvation: pray, read the Word, and praise God. Walk in the old paths and find rest.

Nowadays, the old paths are overgrown with brush. Instead of walking according to the Word, we are walking in our own ways. Some are walking according to books written to make them feel good.  These books are based on imaginations and are contrary to the standard of the Bible. I pray that God will open our eyes and give us revelation of His Word.

What are the old paths? For some, the old paths are the things you used to do when you were first born again. It could be the prayer life you had, whereas now you just talk to God while driving down the road. It could be the way your grandmother used to take you to church early on Sunday morning; then during the week for Bible study or a prayer meeting. Now you are content to attend church, but your soul is not content.

Some of us are not happy; we cry ourselves to sleep because we are emotionally unanchored. We have no peace or rest. The Lord is saying, find rest for your soul: seek the old path in the Bible and walk therein. Seek the old ways so that when that great day of selection comes, you will not be castaway; you will be among those called “the just.”  Maintain the standard of God and walk with Him in holiness, in righteousness, before Him, all the days of your life.

Prayer Points:

You cannot walk in holiness except you have the Holy Spirit in you, which is only given to those who are born again. So if you have never given your life to Jesus, pray with me now, “Dear Lord Jesus, I surrender my life to you.  I confess and forsake my sins.  Cleanse me from my sins with your blood and write my name in the book of life.” Amen.

Father, you long for our fellowship. I pray that your children will seek the old paths and walk therein to your glory in the name of Jesus.
