Peace

Scripture Reading: John 14:27

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

Peace

Father God, I pray for those who have lost their innocence, for those who are experiencing condemnation. Lord, restore those days when we were not distracted by the world and you were our first love. Let us be children again: trusting, loving, and believing that all things are possible in you. Let us possess freedom and peace.

Many countries all over the world are facing times of political, social, and religious unrest and lives are being threatened daily. The cry for peace is universal. Peace is the absence of trouble and turmoil. It not only refers to the external, where we can appear calm, but considers the internal, where there is often restlessness and the soul has lost its peace. If that is your situation, I pray that God will restore to you the peace of a child of God, because His Spirit is the source of peace.

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Peace. He will say to you, “No matter what storms are raging in your life, the Holy Spirit will give us a peace that passes all understanding. There are so many things that we do not understand; yet, we must not lose our peace because in spite of the challenges we face, peace remains our portion forever. Jesus secured this spirit of peace for us through His atonement. “And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven,” Colossians 1:20.

Peace is obtained by faith in God. I pray that you will pursue faith so that if you are troubled, the spirit of peace will enter your life once again.

There are a number of things that cause our hearts to be troubled. These include sin, fear, and spiritual awakening. Willful disobedience, sin, takes away peace even when you are not caught. Though nobody might know what you did and nobody is questioning you or discussing it, if you have an absence of peace it is because your conscience is knocking at the door of your heart.

Fear also takes away our peace. Beloved, the things that you are afraid of are actually afraid of you! May God in His mercy give you a revelation that we need not fear for God is with us.

Sometimes, we lose our peace when God is spiritually waking us up to a situation.  Whenever God raises an alarm bell to wake you up to something you were not conscious of, you must get on your knees and pray for spiritual insight. You will realize that when you pray and sing, peace comes. Peace comes because peace is your portion as a child of God.

Prayer Points:

The peace of God is only available to the child of God, not the adult of God.  So if you have never given your life to Jesus, pray along with me now, “Dear Lord Jesus, I ask that you come into my life. I surrender my life to you. I confess and forsake my sins. Cleanse me from my sins with your blood and write my name in the book of life. Please, bless me with that peace in Jesus’ name.”

Father God, give us the grace to have a restoration of peace by prayer and praise. If sin has taken away our peace, we pray that the atonement of the blood of Jesus will bring about forgiveness as we confess and forsake sin in the name of Jesus. Give us the grace of obedience and let us not be afraid, nor our hearts be troubled. Thank you because peace is our portion in your Word. Amen.
