No Poison Shall Work

Scripture Reading: 2 Kings 4:38–41
“And one went out into the field to gather herbs, and found a wild vine, and gathered thereof wild gourds his lap full, and came and shred them into the pot of pottage: for they knew them not. So they poured out for the men to eat. And it came to pass, as they were eating of the pottage, that they cried out, and said, O thou man of God, there is death in the pot. And they could not eat thereof. But he said, Then bring meal. And he cast it into the pot; and he said, Pour out for the people, that they may eat. And there was no harm in the pot,” 2 Kings 4:39–41.

No Poison Shall Work

Father God we thank you for the sufficiency of the blood of Jesus. We thank you because the blood of Jesus sets us free from the contamination of sin, because the blood of Jesus is able to wash away our sin and sorrows. Father we thank you because the blood of Jesus is the antidote to every poison.

Pray that the blood of Jesus will set you free from any poison that the enemy has deposited in your body, every spiritual, ministerial, or business poison. Plead the blood of Jesus. Begin to pour the blood of Jesus upon your children, upon your children’s minds, upon your spouse’s mind. Pour the blood of Jesus upon your family, home, marriage, ministry, business, city, community, and nation. For indeed the blood of Jesus will set you free from sin and sorrow.

The scenario in 2 Kings 4:38–41 happened at a gathering of prophets. Death in the pot is the biblical way of saying poison that could kill was put in the food. In a secular, competitive, envy-filled world this is imaginable. But imagine it happening in a gathering of prophets. Elisha, who does not operate in the realm of physical circumstances, commanded the meal to be made even though there was dearth, a drought, in the land. Even in the famine he commanded, “Set on the great pot, and seethe pottage for the sons of the prophets,” 2 Kings 4:38. The person who brings the poison is usually a nameless person, and in this case 2 Kings 4:39 says, “ . . . for they knew them not.” Nobody knows how poison comes into a system, into food, into a life, a ministry, a family. There is always one nameless person who will find a wild vine, something that is not meant to be there, and introduce it.

The prophets knew there was a man of God named Elisha and when they found poison they cried out, “O thou man of God, there is death in the pot,” verse 40. Fortunately he was still around when the poison was found. Elisha then commanded, “Pour out to the people, that they may eat. And there was no harm in the pot,” verse 41.

From “death in the pot” to “no harm in the pot” takes the introduction of an Elisha. Who is your Elisha? Who is he that can command that you get a great pot to cook your food during a famine? Who can command that they bring a meal after the enemy has put poison inside your pot? Today there is famine around the world, but your Elisha has commanded that a great pot be set up for you. But while this pot is being set up, someone has put a poison vine in it.

Today, the Man of God, our own Elisha, the Lord Jesus Himself, is the only one who can command that a great pot be set up. The one who can command that food be made to feed His people and who says, “Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm,” Psalm 105:15. He provides for His prophets abundantly, as he says, “set on the great pot.” What has come and put poison in your life, and introduced confusion? Today, your Emmanuel says to bring meal. Meal is the Word of God, the food of the Spirit, the antidote to poison. I bring the meal of the Word of God today and command in the name of Jesus that the death that was put in the pot of your life be eliminated; that there be no harm in the pot. The Word of God is sent to bring healing. What disease has been put in the pot that was set up by God for you to receive blessings? In the name of Jesus, eliminate that poison today. In the name of Jesus, we neutralize the poison with the antidote of the Word of God.

Holy Father, in your mercy and love look into the pot that you have set up for your children and hear their cry. Lord we ask that your meal, your Word, will proclaim there is no harm in the pot of their lives, their marriage, their business, their children, their ministry, their community, their state or their nation. May no harm, evil, poison, or weapon fashioned against your children prosper. May no tongue that is raised stand. Today I bring the Word of God against every poison and say it is neutralized by the name of Jesus.

Prayer Points:

Father I speak today concerning the bondage, the affliction, the harm in the pot that the enemy has released to your children.
Holy Father, let the counsel of those mad diviners come to naught. Father, wherever your children are vulnerable to poison, please apply the antidote of your cleansing. Cancel every poison in the pot of every life. I decree the antidote of the blood of Jesus and I pray that your children be set free from poison. Amen.
