Zebulun: Dwelling with God

Scripture Reading: Genesis 30:20
“And Leah said, God hath endued me with a good dowry; now will my husband dwell with me, because I have born him six sons: and she called his name Zebulun.”

Zebulun: Dwelling with God

O Lord we thank you for there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. We thank you because the blood of Jesus has set us free from sin and sorrow, fully paid the price of our sin and we owe no one for it in Jesus’ name.

Zebulun means “dwelling” because Leah has now become established in the house of Jacob. We see the change in Jacob towards Leah. She had to purchase the encounter with Jacob that brought forth Issachar but the Bible does not record that she had to bribe him to have Zebulun. The first action restored her connection to Jacob and after bringing forth Zebulun she could now dwell.

In many ways, after the purchase there is the dwelling. Our purchase by Jesus opened the door for us to dwell with Him. How could He who had no sin, die on the cross like a sinner so that He could purchase our salvation, so that we may get to a place of Zebulun where we can abide with God? This is a most unfair purchase. Some of the things showing forth in the children of Israel are a type of our own process. The hire was the salvation plan to redeem us, to reconnect us back to Him in order to dwell with Him. The blood of Jesus was shed to purchase our reconnection to dwell with God. Have you taken advantage of that hire? Have you taken advantage of the Issachar oil and come into the place where you now dwell with God? This is possible because we have been reconnected by salvation. Leah was disconnected from Jacob. She had four children before she left bearing, Genesis 30:9, and when she was no longer able to produce she was detached, disconnected. But there came a time by the grace of God when she was able to hire, to purchase her reconnection to her husband. In the same manner, Jesus purchased our reconnection to God and after that reconnection we now have the priviledge of dwelling.

Leah was able to say now my husband will dwell with me because I have borne him six sons and she called his name Zebulun. Can you rest in the blessed assurance that Jesus purchased your reconnection to God or are you letting your past sins condemn you? Are you enjoying the benefits of that purchase, the purchase of your salvation at Calvary? Are you enjoying it and dwelling in His Presence, or are you still restless and unsettled? I pray that the anointing of Zebulun, dwelling in the presence of God who is our Father who we are reconnected to through Jesus and His atonement, will cause us to dwell in the blessings of the shed blood of Jesus. His crucifixion and atonement are for our benefit. Are you enjoying the benefits and blessings of reconnection? May that be your dwelling place.

Prayer Points:

If you are not reconnected, if you are not dwelling in His Presence then you need to take the first step today. In order to take advantage of the purchase of your soul by Jesus, pray with me now, “Lord Jesus, come into my heart. Since you have purchased my salvation, give me the grace to dwell with God eternally.” Amen.
