Best-Case Scenario Thinker

Scripture Reading: Philippians 4:8
“Finally brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

Best-Case Scenario Thinker

Holy Father, we pray in the name of Jesus that you draw us closer to you and increase our faith. Father, we know you are not pleased when doubt overwhelms us. Give us the grace to always think of the best-case scenario. Father, perfect us in love for you.

The Bible encourages us to think about pure things, things that are of good report in Philippians 4:8. But most of the time we worry about the worst possible scenario. What if I do not have any money to pay my bills this week? What if my account gets frozen? What if I do not get the money I am expecting? Even when God answers our prayer we cannot celebrate His answers; instead, we think of the next problem.

As believers we should abandon our fears and think of the best-case scenario. When you focus on the worst-case scenario, you are actually operating in fear and failing to trust God. This is contrary to our nature as children of God since godly love is the characteristic that distinguishes us from those who do not love the Lord. According to the Word, godly love always trusts and casts out fear. “[Love] beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things,” 1 Corinthians 13:7.

Indeed, there is no room for doubt if you have accepted the love of Jesus Christ. By this love, He shed His blood for our sins. Jesus died for you. He wants the best for you and is working out a great plan for your life. Why are you thinking fearful thoughts when Jesus is thinking peaceful ones? Stop invalidating the power of the gospel. Reclaim the cover of the blood of Jesus. Let His blood wash away the fearful thoughts that have consumed your mind, in Jesus’ name. I pray that as your mind is being cleansed, godly thoughts will replace fearful thoughts. May your mind reflect the gospel of Jesus Christ that you confess and possess.

Focusing on the worst-case scenario is in fact evil. It is one way the enemy attacks us. Unfortunately, by the time we begin to realize this, our faith has already dwindled. Our conversations, our thoughts, and our actions are no longer seasoned with faith. Let us think with faith, speak with faith, and sing with faith in the name of Jesus. When negative thoughts enter your mind, superimpose upon that picture a best-case scenario. The following are some habits to develop that can help you to achieve this: Draw closer to Jesus by reading His Word, praying, and worshipping. Only in His Presence can you see and think godly things that are grounded in His Word. Write out these godly thoughts; write a description of the best-case scenario for any issue or situation you encounter. Put that description in a place you visit frequently so that you can be easily reminded. Begin to pray aloud and watch God answer in His faithfulness.

Prayer Points:

If you have not given your life to Jesus, you cannot even begin to think godly thoughts because your mind is controlled by an evil power. You cannot pray for deliverance from that oppression, because you are not saved. Pray earnestly for salvation, “Dear Lord Jesus, save my soul. I surrender my life to you; I give you my heart. Bless me with salvation. Write my name in the book of life and make me one of those best-case scenario thinkers in Jesus’ name.”

O Lord God Almighty, fill your people to the brim with the spirit of faith so that there will be no room for doubt. In your mercy and in your love, deliver us from all the evil effects of dwelling on worst-case scenarios. Release your children from the mind-set of worst-case-scenario-thinking. There are many whose fears and worries have thrown them into a pit of depression. In the name of Jesus, I bind every spirit of depression, discouragement, and self-pity in the lives of your children. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth who has defeated the evil one, I resist you and give you no ground or opportunity to attack. We claim deliverance from oppression by the blood of Jesus. We claim the spirit of power, love, and a well-balanced mind in the name of Jesus. Father God, let your Holy Ghost saturate our lives with freshness through godly thinking; thoughts that are based on your Word. Lord God Almighty, direct and control every thought of the minds of your children in Jesus’ name. Amen.
