Take Me To Jordan
Scripture Reading: 2 Kings 6:1–7
“And the sons of the prophets said unto Elisha, Behold now, the place where we dwell with thee is too strait for us. Let us go, we pray thee, unto Jordan, and take thence every man a beam, and let us make us a place there, where we may dwell. And he answered, Go ye,” 2 Kings 6:1–2.
Take Me To Jordan
Here we see things that can only happen at Jordan. The sons of the prophets asked Elisha for permission to go to Jordan to build a place where they could dwell without the constraint of their former location: they needed to cross over. After Elisha granted them permission, they said, we cannot go alone; we need your presence, please go with your servants, and Elisha agreed in 2 Kings 6:3. While cutting wood in Jordan, the axe head of one of the sons of the prophets fell into the water and he cried and said, “Alas, master! For it was borrowed,” verse
5. Elisha then cuts down a stick, casts it into the water, and the axe head swam,” verse 6.
Jordan is a place of breakthroughs, where the iron that has fallen into the water will swim. We know fish swim but the only place iron can swim back to restoration is in the Jordan. Today, let us pray for the grace to go to our Jordan. Has the axe head of your life become blunt? Has it become so loose that it has fallen into the river of your life? Cry like that man and say, Alas, it was borrowed, because indeed your life is borrowed; you use it for a time and return it. If your life has fallen into the river, you need to be alarmed. We are talking about both physical and spiritual drowning. Cry out today and the presence of God, the Holy Spirit in you will recognize your cry. The Holy Spirit will apply the benefits of the cross to your life and bring it out so that the iron, your life, will swim.
Impossibilities will now become possibilities in your life; you will begin to walk in the realm of signs and wonders.
Jordan is most significant because it is the place of open heavens. This is where our Lord Jesus went to be baptized; where heaven opened for Him; where the voice of God was heard on His behalf. “And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased,” Luke 3:22. Jordan is the place of your breakthrough, the place of cleansing. In 2 Kings 5: 1- 14, the general who had everything, who was the head of the Syrian army, had a “but” in his life because the Bible says he was a leper. He could conquer armies but he could not conquer the decay in his life. The decay in our lives is called sin. Sin is like leprosy. The only place you can be cleansed is in Jordan, the place of healing and cleansing. Are you sick in any way? Cry to God and say, Lord take me to Jordan for a breakthrough. There, let me receive open heavens, cleansing, and healing.
Elijah divided Jordan. Jordan is that place where all things are possible. I pray today that God will hold our hands and take us to Jordan, the place where the blessings of God descend upon us. Jordan is the place of the descending. Let the Holy Spirit descend on us today. I pray that God will give you the grace to go to that place where iron will swim in your life.
Many of you have lost the axe head of your life; you are drowning. The reality is that your life is borrowed; you are only here for a season. You need to get to and operate at the cutting edge of your life. If the axe head of your life has drowned, go to Jordan, for there, iron swims by the power of the Holy Spirit. Go to Jordan, for there, heavens open, cleansing takes place, and you will experience healing. In Jordan God speaks on your behalf: You are not rejected, you are affirmed.
Jordan is your place of prayer, your place of worship, of having revelation in the Word. Go back to the Word. Pray and cry like that man and say, Alas, master! this life is borrowed and time is running out. Take me to Jordan. Let my axe head swim again and cause my life operate at its cutting edge.
Prayer Points:
If you are not born again, the first Jordan you need to get to is the Jordan of salvation. There you will be baptized into a relationship with our Lord Jesus. Pray with me now, “Lord Jesus, I surrender my life to you. Bless me with your Holy Spirit. Take me to Jordan with any situation for which I need cleansing and a breakthrough in the name of Jesus.” Amen.
