Scripture Reading: Numbers 4:29–33
“As for the sons of Merari, thou shalt number them after their families, by the house of their fathers; . . . And this is the charge of their burden, according to all their service in the tabernacle of the congregation; the boards of the tabernacle, and the bars thereof, and the pillars thereof, and sockets thereof. And the pillars of the court round about, and their sockets, and their pins, and their cords, with all their instruments, and with all their service: and by name ye shall reckon the instruments of the charge of their burden,” Numbers 4:29, 31–32.

Father God, we thank you because you are seen in the eyes of your people even in this generation. Lord, we glorify your holy name because we will behold you face to face. You have placed us in the proper path and we ask that you give us the grace to possess our prepared places; that we are perpetually in our right places for your purposes. Lord, I ask in Jesus’ name that you make us pillars as daughters and sons in your house; make us billboards of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Today, our topic is the ministry of Merari, the sons of Levi who are given the charge to take care of the boards, bars, pillars, and sockets of the tabernacle. For this, the Bible says all were called into service: “from thirty years old and upward even until fifty years old shalt thou number them, every one that entereth into the service, to do the work of the tabernacle of the congregation,” Numbers 4:30. “This is the service of the families of the sons of Merari, according to all their service, in the tabernacle of the congregation, under the hand of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest,” verse 33.Beloved, in the Merari ministry of our generation, if you are ministering or doing service for God, the first thing He wants you to take care of is the board. In current parlance, we have what we call billboards and they advertise something or someone.
Billboards are used to send messages to the masses. Applying the Merari ministry today, the Lord asks us to take charge of the boards. He wants you to become a symbol, to display a message for mass communication. When you take care of the boards as a minister of the living God, you become a mobile advertisement of the Lord Jesus. Just like the ministry of Merari, you need to take care of the boards of the tabernacle. Make sure that you take care of you, your personality, your appearance, your actions, your thoughts, your words, and your deeds. When you are an advertisement for a particular message, your goal is to get people to look at you so that you can point them to the message. Your integrity should be such that people will be drawn to you and the authenticity of your spirit. Your love and your manifestations of the fruit and the gifts of the Spirit should draw people to you. Your compliance with Galatians 5:22–23 will attract people to you and they will ask about your life. When you send the truth of your life across to them, they will ask about it and you can share with them how to have that kind of life in Jesus Christ.
God is looking for billboards. He is looking for people who will manifest His glory and His attributes; people who will manifest as sons and daughters of the King of kings on earth today. God wants you to take charge of the boards of the tabernacle. The advertisement of the church of the Lord Jesus Christ is not what we see on television or in the advertisements we see in newspapers; it is in the lives of the people who call themselves Christians. When people look at you, they are being told: this is what Jesus is. We are made in the image of God; we are a reflection of Jesus. The question is, are you a perfect billboard, a blurred copy, or a torn and tattered billboard? We are meant to be a living reality of the Holy Spirit. The only way you can do this is by going by the Book; being packaged like Galatians 5:22–23; the fruit of the Spirit. Look at yourself and see if you are wearing the garment of those attributes. Are you a container of the gifts of the Holy Spirit as stated in 1 Corinthians 12? You are meant to contain these gifts and the fruit of the spirit so that you will be a good advertisement for the Lord Jesus Christ.
Prayer Points:
O Father God, I pray today, that in your mercy you will give us the grace to be fantastic, excellent advertisements for the Kingdom of God. I pray that like the children of Merari, we will be conscious of the fact that the boards of the tabernacle go everywhere we go. May we be perfect billboards for Jesus. May we be packaged so that we promote the many colours of that one picture of Galatians 5:22–23. May our content and message be manifestations of the gifts, because the gifts are given to us to profit withal. Beloved, participate in the present- day ministry of Merari. Take charge of the boards; take charge of advertising the Kingdom profitably. Put the message across so people will come to the Lord Jesus through you. May God give you the grace to do this in Jesus’ name.
