Obey and Serve
Scripture Reading: Job 36:11
“If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures. But if they obey not, they shall perish by the sword, and shall die without knowledge.”
Obey and Serve
Father God, we pray in the name of Jesus that you will have your way in our lives. Holy Father, give us the grace to realize that the reason we live is to worship you. Give us the grace to walk with you in holiness, give us the grace to walk with you in righteousness.
Yes, walk with God in holiness and righteousness: holiness to the Lord and righteousness to your fellow man. Serve God in spirit and in truth and then watch God do wonders in your life. The Lord is setting before us the way of life, the way of prosperity. Man’s way is the way of pleasure or the way of disobedience, the way of the sword or the way of ignorance. I pray that in the name of Jesus you will choose to obey God.
We obey by agreeing with His Word, by saying, “God says it, I believe it, and that settles it.”
I pray that God will deliver us from the diversion of compromise, of neutral Christianity, and of convenient Christianity. I pray that God will give us the grace to obey Him and serve Him because the Word says that if we obey Him and serve Him, we shall spend our days in prosperity. Obeying God simply means to obey His Word; to choose the right way by walking with God through His Son Jesus Christ. He says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life,” John 14:6.
Walk with Jesus and serve Him. How do we serve God? When you obey God, you will have no choice, but to serve Him. When you obey God, you will reach out to your fellow man with good and with the gospel. You will reach out in service to the living God by giving Him pleasure, by spending your life worshipping Him. You will spend your life communicating to a lost world that Jesus is alive and well, that Jesus is the answer for the world today.
I pray that in the name of Jesus that you obey and serve Jesus, that you spend your days in prosperity. Prosperity means that you have been enabled. You will spend your days with divine enablement. When you have a prosperous day, a day that is enabled, you will succeed at every turn. When you spend your days in prosperity, you are able to accomplish all things, to fulfill all that is required for that day. Therefore, your years will be years of pleasure. But for those who do not obey, it is sad because they perish by the sword and die in their ignorance.
Today, I pray that no one will walk in disobedience to God, that no one will die in ignorance or without knowledge.
I say this to you from the Word of God, the God who gives songs in the night. God is telling you to obey Him and serve Him and you will spend your days in prosperity and your years in pleasure. He will give you songs in the night of your confusion and take you out of your troubles. God says in Job 34:29 “ . . . when He giveth quietness, who then can make trouble?”
Prayer Points:
I pray that God will give you the grace to obey His Word and to serve Him so that as in Job 36:11, you will spend your days in prosperity and your years in pleasure. I pray in the name of Jesus, according to Job 35:10, that God will bring songs in every night of your life in the name of Jesus. I pray Job 34:29 and I speak the quietness of God in the name of Jesus into every trouble in your life. I encourage you to obey and serve God.
But what if you have not given your life to Jesus? How can you obey God without the power of the Holy Spirit? How can you serve God without the power of the Holy Spirit? How can you spend your days in prosperity and your years in pleasure without surrendering your life to God? Pray with me now, “Dear Lord Jesus, I surrender my life to you. Forgive me and wash all that is not of you from me. Write my name in the book of life. Give me the grace to obey and serve God, so that I will spend my days in prosperity and my years in pleasure in Jesus’ name.” Amen.
