Gifts of the Spirit
Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 12:7–11
“But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.”
Gifts of the Spirit
Father God, we thank you because the power of the Holy Spirit is available to us by your love. Thank you for sending us the Comforter, your Holy Spirit.
There are many books and classes about spiritual gifts, even self- evaluations to determine your gift. Such popularity is only proper since these gifts do indeed confirm that you are a wonderful child of God. If you are born again, filled with the Spirit of God, and if the fruit of the Holy Spirit is evident in your life, then you should manifest at least one of the nine spiritual gifts:
Word of Wisdom
Wisdom from God provides solutions for present or future problems. An example is the Ten Commandments, which gives instructions on living in a manner that pleases God.Word of Knowledge
Knowledge is a revelation from God that clarifies challenging situations. For instance, the Lord might instruct you that someone with a fever is not suffering from merely physical symptoms; rather, the problem is a generational curse. This word of knowledge given to you from God accurately decodes and gives directives to solve the problem.Faith
Anyone with this gift has a higher level of faith than the average Christian. He or she internalizes the Word and believes God for the impossible. If you have this gift, exercise it on behalf of your fellow brethren who are facing impossible situations.Healing
This gift goes beyond the laying on of hands that all Christians possess. It is a special deposit of healing virtues that is transmitted by the spoken word and contact.Working of Miracles
This refers to the ability to cause unnatural things to supernaturally happen by the power of the Holy Spirit; not by any other power. If you have this gift begin to share it so that oppressed Christians can be delivered and God will receive the glory.Prophecy
Prophecy is a two-fold gift of proclaiming the Word of God either by forth-telling or fortelling. When the Bible is declared in teaching, it is forth-telling. Fortelling is a revelation given by the Holy Spirit of future events before they happen.Discerning of the Spirits
This is the ability to decode spiritual situations and identify any false prophet. People with this gift can listen to someone delivering the Word of God and decipher whether the person is speaking by the Spirit of God or by another power.Diverse Tongues
Persons with this gift have the ability to speak in a language that is not known to them in prayers and intercessions.Interpretation of Tongues
An interpreter is needed to translate a strange tongue to the body of Christ.
Prayer Points:
You can only manifest these gifts of the Spirit if you have received the Holy Spirit. If you are not born again, pray with me, “Dear Lord Jesus, I surrender my life to you and accept you as my personal Lord and Saviour. I confess my sins and turn away from them. Cleanse me from my sins with your blood. Write my name in the book of life and manifest my gift so that others will profit from them in the powerful name of Jesus.”
If you are a child of God with mature fruit of the Spirit within you, then this fruit will bring about the manifestation of your spiritual gifts. I pray you will share your gifts withal; the body of Christ needs your gifts in this generation. Father, cause your children to share their gifts with all so that the body of Christ will profit and you will receive the glory. Thank you for the grace to be a wonder, in Jesus’ name.
