Favour and Mercy

Scripture Reading: Psalm 102:1–17
“But thou, O Lord, shalt endure for ever; and thy remembrance unto all generations. Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come,” Psalm 102:12–13.

Favour and Mercy

Father God, we thank you for the priviledge of life, and of life in you. Lord, intervene in the affairs of our lives; lead us in the paths of righteousness for your name’s sake. O living God, when we are overwhelmed and confused we come to you.
Deliver us from every evil plan and work, and from our destructions and diversions, in the name of Jesus.

“Hear my prayer, O Lord, and let my cry come unto thee. Hide not thy face from me in the day when I am in trouble; incline thine ear unto me: in the day when I call answer me speedily. For my days are consumed like smoke, and my bones are burned as an hearth. My heart is smitten, and withered like grass; so that I forget to eat my bread. By reason of the voice

of my groaning my bones cleave to my skin. I am like a pelican of the wilderness: I am like an owl of the desert. I watch, and am as a sparrow alone upon the house top. My enemies reproach me all the day; and they that are mad against me are sworn against me. For I have eaten ashes like bread, and mingled my drink with weeping.

Because of thine indignation and thy wrath: for thou hast lifted me up, and cast me down. My days are like a shadow that declineth; and I am withered like grass,” Psalm 102:1–11. David ends his cry to the Lord by saying the time of favour has come, the set time is now, Psalm 102:12–13. He continues, “For thy servants take pleasure in her stones, and favour the dust thereof. So the heathen shall fear the name of the Lord, and all the kings of the earth thy glory. When the Lord shall build up Zion, He shall appear in his glory. He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer,” Psalm 102:14–17.

Beloved, are you overwhelmed; are you at the place where the only thing that can save you is the favour of God? You are in good company; David expressed the same sentiments. If you know in your heart that you need God to arise, you first must arise in prayer, in preaching, in praise, and in reading His Word. You must arise in your communication with God. Cry unto Him, “Lord arise and have mercy upon me. For the time to favour, the set time is come.”

How do you know it is the set time for God to favour you? The set time is when everything you trust has failed; when you can hold onto nothing but the mercy of God; when everything around you is unreliable; like there is no place to stand and there is no hope. Now is the time to open your mouth and call on your Maker, your Father who loves you to the end.

The mercies of God are great, sure, and everlasting; they accompany His favour. But His favour is released at His discretion, so let us spend this time asking God to release His favour.

Prayer Points:

Father God Almighty, arise from your rest and be blessed by those you favoured with salvation. You are the God of the “suddenlies.” In your mercy and in your love, O Lord, arise suddenly and favour those who desperately need your favour. Eliminate our need for our own merits. May your favour encompass the righteous as with a shield. Father, arise in your strength and power and release your favour into our families, our ministries, and our lives. I pray that in your love, you will encourage and favour that one who needs a breakthrough, that one who needs deliverance, provision, and healing. Father God Almighty, you are sufficient for every situation.

This favour is for those who have given their lives to Jesus. If you have never given your life to Him, this is your set time for salvation. Pray along with me now, “Dear Lord Jesus, have mercy upon me and save my soul. Write my name in the book of life. Bless me with salvation, and as you bless me with salvation, fill me with your Spirit, and as you fill me with your Spirit, let your favour arise in my life, for the set time has come.”

Father God Almighty, let your mercy and your favour be the portions of your children; for yea, the set time for favour and mercy has come.
