A Token for Good

Scripture Reading: Psalm 86
“Shew me a token for good; that they which hate me may see it, and be ashamed: because thou, Lord, hast holpen me, and comforted me,” Psalm 86:17.

A Token for Good

Father God, we pray for restoration. Take us back to when you were our first love. Deliver us from the “pull-aways” that take us away from You and that make us less than what we ought to be in You.

Are you poor in spirit today? Are you financially poor, socially and spiritually poor, or needy? Pray with me this prayer of David:

“Bow down thine ear, O Lord, hear me: for I am poor and needy. Preserve my soul; for I am holy: O thou my God, save thy servant that trusteth in thee. Be merciful unto me, O Lord: for I cry unto thee daily. Rejoice the soul of thy servant: for unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul. For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee. Give ear, O Lord, unto my prayer; and attend to the voice of my supplications. In the day of my trouble I will call upon thee: for thou wilt answer me. Among the gods there is none like unto thee, O Lord; neither are there any works like unto thy works. All nations whom thou hast made shall come and worship before thee, O Lord; and shall glorify thy name. For thou art great, and doest wondrous things: thou art God alone. Teach me thy way, O Lord; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name. I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart: and I will glorify thy name for evermore. For great is thy mercy toward me: and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell. O God, the proud are risen against me, and the assemblies of violent men have sought after my soul; and have not set thee before them. But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth. O turn unto me and have mercy upon me; give thy strength unto thy servant, and save the son of thine handmaid. Shew me a token for good; that they which hate me may see it, and be ashamed: because thou, Lord, hast holpen me, and comforted me,” Psalm 86. May the Lord in His mercy hear and answer our prayers today, in Jesus’ name.

As written in verse 17, a token means something significant and positive. May God in His mercy show you off as a token for good. May He use a significant positive event or development in your life to show you off. May God use something that is positive and full of wonders as a declaration of His mercy towards you. The Bible says that we are for signs and wonders, Isaiah 8:18. When God shows you off, those who hate you see it, and are awed and know that God has manifested His help and comfort. David said, “Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies,” Psalm 23:5. Where you have been abused, mislabeled, and downgraded, God will upgrade you in the name of Jesus. God will show you off as a positively significant person, as someone whom He loves dearly, that those who hate you may see it and be ashamed.

If you are facing a challenge pray now, “Lord God Almighty, show me off as a token for good. Use me, O Lord; show me off for your Kingdom, because there are many who hate me, slander me, and have given me the wrong label.” Our Lord can superimpose His significance on the insignificant and His supernatural power on the natural power to eliminate all the labels of the enemy.

Prayer Points:

If you have never given your life to Jesus, God cannot show you off except He repackages you in the righteousness of Jesus. Confess your sins and pray, “Lord Jesus, I accept you as my personal Lord and Saviour. Fill me with your Spirit. Lead me and operate me by your Spirit and also use me as a token for good. Help me and comfort me in Jesus’ name.” Amen.

Father God Almighty, I pray that you will perpetually put to shame the expectations of all who hate your children. Father God, walking with you and your Word in this world brings about enmity, hatred, disdain, dislike, and all kinds of attack. But Lord we thank you, because you are greater, and “greater is He that is in [us,] than he that is in the world,” 1 John 4:4.

Manifest your help globally for your children, and make us tokens of your goodness we pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
