Blot Out My Transgressions
Father God, we plead the blood of Jesus against any attack of the enemy. We love you and want to stay under the cover of the blood. Place us there, O Lord; keep us there, protect us there, perfect us there, promote us there.
Beloved, if we look at ourselves in the mirror, we find that we are lacking in many areas. If we are not lacking in prayer, we are lacking in reading the Word. If we are not lacking in reading the Word, then we are lacking in worship. If not worship, then it is the way we treat others that is deficient. We are indeed sinners in need of God’s mercy. There is no one without sin, no one without a flaw. We need divine cleansing from all the filthiness of the flesh and the sin that so easily besets us.
Let us pray along with David, meaning it also for ourselves:
“Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me. Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest. Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me. Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom. Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice. Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee. Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness. O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise. For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem. Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar,” Psalm 51:1-19.
David knew that his sin had disconnected him from God; sin had caused his bones to be broken. So he prayed.
Many, like David, have become disconnected from God because of sin, but they are continuing in their own way, convinced that they are fine because they are born again. These people are not fine, because they have lost their first love.
Their heart is no longer completely devoted to God. They have even lost their joy.
Prayer Points:
Father, I pray for a divine reconnection in Jesus’ name. In your mercy, take us back to when we first believed in Jesus, to that place of pure love. Reconnect us so we can rejoice again. Give us the grace to acknowledge our transgressions and be truthful to you. Have mercy upon us and purge everything that is endangering our spiritual health, O Lord. Even as you purge, Father God Almighty, clean our hearts. Wash us in the blood of Jesus and we shall be whiter than snow. Hide your face from our sins and blot out our iniquities. Renew a right spirit within us. Cast us not from your Presence. Lord, there is no place to go; we cannot live without you. Lord God Almighty, full of lovingkindness and tender mercies, blot out our transgressions. Take not your Holy Spirit from us, but restore to us your salvation, your joy, and your divine fellowship. Amen.
