Breaking the Yoke

Scripture Reading: Jeremiah 30: 8–17
“For it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off thy neck, and will burst thy bonds, and strangers shall no more serve themselves of him,” Jeremiah 30:8.

Breaking the Yoke

Father God, we pray in the name of Jesus that you do a work of restoration in our lives. You are our stronghold; take us back to the place where our trust in you is total, where the challenges of this world do not distract us.

Accidentally cutting your skin with a cooking knife can be scary if the cut is deep, but the doctor can treat you accordingly upon seeing the wound. However, what do you do, when your wound is invisible and no diagnostic tests can indicate any specific injury? Without a diagnosis, it is only logical to throw the prospect of a medical cure out the window. Yet human logic becomes unreliable when pain is overwhelming. This is the time to call on the Great Physician, because His reasoning surpasses our logic. You may not be able to describe the symptoms precisely, but the Great Physician does not depend on our description. He has already seen the wound, made an accurate diagnosis, and written a prescription that only He can fill. The wound may be in your body, soul, or spirit: a wound of your heart; of betrayal, loneliness, or disappointment; or a wound of lack. Our Great Physician Jesus is the only one who can heal your invisible wounds. He says today, “Believe my Word; I will break this yoke from off your neck.”

“For it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord of hosts, that I will break his yoke from off thy neck, and will burst thy bonds, and strangers shall no more serve themselves of him: But they shall serve the Lord their God, and David their king, whom I will raise up unto them. Therefore fear thou not, O my servant Jacob, saith the Lord; neither be dismayed, O Israel: for, lo, I will save thee from afar, and thy seed from the land of their captivity; and Jacob shall return, and shall be in rest, and be quiet, and none shall make him afraid. For I am with thee, saith the Lord, to save thee: though I make a full end of all nations whither I have scattered thee, yet will I not make a full end of thee: but I will correct thee in measure, and will not leave thee altogether unpunished. For thus saith the Lord, Thy bruise is incurable, and thy wound is grievous. There is none to plead thy cause, that thou mayest be bound up: thou hast no healing medicines. All thy lovers have forgotten thee; they seek thee not; for I have wounded thee with the wound of an enemy, with the chastisement of a cruel one, for the multitude of thine iniquity; because thy sins were increased. Why criest thou for thine affliction? thy sorrow is incurable for the multitude of thine iniquity: because thy sins were increased, I have done these things unto thee. Therefore all they that devour thee shall be devoured; and all thine adversaries, every one of them, shall go into captivity; and they that spoil thee shall be a spoil, and all that prey upon thee will I give for a prey. For I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the Lord; because they called thee an Outcast, saying, This is Zion, whom no man seeketh after,” Jeremiah 30:8–17.

Prayer Points:

Let us pray according to the Word of God in Jeremiah. O gracious living God, let today be the day you break the enemy’s yoke off our necks. I pray today that you will heal all who are sick in the body, soul, and spirit. Heal our wounds and restore health unto us.

Remove the shackles that bind us and let strangers no longer abuse us. Your Word says that you will devour those who devour us. Father God, rebuke the devourer who has been working in the lives of your children and bring an end to all our oppression and affliction in Jesus’ name. Give us the grace not to be dismayed, for you reign from your victorious throne in heaven. Save us from afar, save our seed, and also all who are in the land of captivity. O Lord only you can see everything. You know what havoc the enemy is working in the lives of your children. Save us from the reins of the enemy. Let our seed be free from the snares of this age. Your children are being called outcasts, forsaken people; so we come to you, our strong tower, our stronghold. Let your Word work in our lives, O Lord, as you fulfill your promises of deliverance.

If you have not received Christ into your heart, this God of the Bible who fulfills all His promises cannot be your stronghold. Be born again and pray, “Dear Lord Jesus, I surrender my life to you. I confess and forsake my sins. Cleanse me from my sins with your blood. Write my name in the book of life.

Deliver me from all that oppresses me, and break every yoke in Jesus’ name.” Amen.
