Mix the Word with Faith

Scripture Reading:  Hebrews 4

“For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it,” Hebrews 4:2.

Mix the Word with Faith

The gospel has been preached to us but we should remember that what makes the gospel valid is our faith. Hebrews 4:2 says that when the gospel was preached, those who did not mix it with faith did not profit from it. After you hear the Word, read the Word, and listen to people share the Word in different settings, do you mix it with faith? Or do you just make notes, compile them, and set them aside? Has the Word been profitable to you this year?  The Word must be mixed with faith in those who hear it because when we believe, we enter into the rest that is only available to those who have faith, verse 3. If someone tells you something good, something that shows a bright future, you need to believe it beyond hearing it. If you believe it, you need to mix it with faith, and it will work for you.

Today, I encourage you to read through the Word you have heard recently. Listen to it, think about it, mix it with faith, and believe it because the Word of the Lord is true. Hebrews 4:12 says, “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” The Word of God is quick to those who are quick to believe and powerful to those who believe it is powerful. “Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.  Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

Let us therefore, come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need,” verses 13–16.

Our first challenge is to take the Word of God seriously; to believe what the Word says. We need to act like believers not like hearers for only the doers of the Word will profit from it.

If you believe that God loves you, then come out of that depression of perceived hatred from people around you, for greater is He that is in love with you, “greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world,” 1 John 4:4. If the greater one loves you then why are you worrying about the lesser ones? I pray that God will give us the grace to believe that God loves us and that we begin to operate in that mentality. I pray that we have a revelation that He loves us and His love is unchanging towards us: He is always loving and caring, providing and promoting, and His thoughts for us are for peace and not for evil. What is causing it not to be real in our lives is lack of faith. If you are used to just hearing the Word and not mixing it with faith, you need to focus on mixing the Word you have heard with faith so that it will become profitable to you.

The Word of God says in Philippians 4:13, I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me. If I mix the Word with faith, I can do everything with a possibility mentality. I will do it with a can-do mentality because I have mixed with faith the Word that says I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me.  This means I will not go into action in my own power anymore but I will go into action with the strength of Christ that I believe is in me because He is the strengthener of those who believe in Him. Do you believe in Jesus today? Are you a believer or are you a religious Christian? If you believe, activate your faith. Walking in Christ will become very profitable to you in every area of your life. I pray that God will give us the grace to hear His voice and believe it.

Prayer Points:

If you are not born again, I invite you to give your life to Jesus. He is ready, waiting, and available to you.  Just say, “Lord Jesus I give my life to you. Write my name in the book of life and give me the born-again experience in Jesus’ name.” Amen.
