Bless the Lord and Enable Him
Scripture Reading: Psalm 103:1–2
“Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.”
Bless the Lord and Enable Him
Father God, we thank you because you are everything to us. Lord we ask today that you give us the grace to bless you to enable you to prosper in our lives.
It is impossible to disable God, to shut Him from our lives when we are Christians. But we still have compartments: things we take to God and things we do not; things we take to men and things we handle ourselves. When something is really big we go to God and when it is small we deal with it ourselves. We often bury emotional challenges in our soul until they make us bitter and we become sick. Today, in the name of Jesus, I ask that you become emotionally wise like David. Not only was David in control of his emotions, but most importantly, he took everything to God. That is why he could say, “Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, verse 1.
To bless the Lord means you allow the Lord to prosper in every area of your being. You tell your heart, your eyes, your ears, your voice to bless the Lord and you allow the Lord to prosper in your heart, eyes, your ears and voice. The seat of your emotions and intellect, that place of reasoning is your soul. That is why David in his wisdom said, “Bless the Lord, O my soul.” Is your soul blessing the Lord, or do you shut the Lord out emotionally? When you have compartments in your life that God cannot enter, you have essentially disabled Him from coming into that situation. If you are wise you will bless the Lord; you will tell your soul to bless the Lord. Did you just have a quarrel with someone close to you? Instead of handling the matter yourself, take it to the Lord in prayer.
When your soul blesses the Lord, it means your soul, emotions, and reasoning allow the Lord to prosper in the issue. Is your issue pain? Bless the Lord. Is it need, confusion, misunderstanding? Bless the Lord. Invite the Lord into your emotions and every matter therein. When you learn to enable God to prosper in your situations, He will dissolve the bitterness in your soul. Some of us are high strung and tighten up emotionally because we have been hurt in the past. When we invite Him in, He will untangle all the complications in our lives and help us to see things another way. No matter how difficult your circumstance, no matter how correct you think you are, there is still another way to view your challenge. The message today is that you and I should bless the Lord so that all that is within us will bless His holy name and enable God.
If you have sickness in your body, tell that part of your body to bless the Lord, to allow the Lord to enter and to prosper, and to have His good pleasure in that circumstance.
How many of us are ready today to bless the Lord and command that our souls allow the Lord to enter? There is someone standing at the door of your soul knocking. Let Him in; He is Jesus Christ, our Saviour: let Him in.
Prayer Points:
If you have not let the Lord Jesus Christ in, you must first surrender your soul to Him. Let Him come into your life and have free access. Give Him the master key to enter every area of your life. When you allow Him to come in with all of Himself, He enters your soul with peace because He is the Prince of Peace; He enters with joy because He has come that ye might have life and have it more abundantly. He enters with abundance because His nature is abundant. He enters with love because He is the greatest lover of all time. For having loved His own, He loved them to the end. Will you bless the Lord today?
Will you invite Him in all of your circumstances today? Are you tired of carrying your heavy load alone? Find a quiet place and tell Jesus that secret that you cannot bear to tell anyone else. Bless the Lord; tell your soul to bless the Lord in the name of Jesus.
Father God, we pray that you come into our situations, our emotions, our challenges, our misunderstandings, our homes. Come in, O Lord, for only you can understand totally. We only understand partially. Father God, I bless you today, I command my soul to bless you; I command everything within me to bless your holy name. Brethren, pray that prayer. May the Lord Himself take you over as you bless and enable Him in every area of your life, in Jesus’ name.
