Divine Connection: Everlasting Lovers

Scripture Reading: 2 Samuel 23:15–16
“And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate! And three mighty men brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well…..and brought it to David: nevertheless he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the Lord.”

Divine Connection: Everlasting Lovers

In the book of 2 Samuel 23 we see the operation and commitment that comes with divine connection. The Bible in this passage described David’s mighty men, the men that God touched to work with David. We see an example of this in 2 Samuel 23: 15-17, “And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate! And the three mighty men brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: nevertheless he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto the Lord. And he said, Be it far from me, O Lord, that I should do this: is not this the blood of the men that went in jeopardy of their lives? Therefore he would not drink it.These things did these three mighty men.”

They were men whose hearts God had touched to work with David, to be with David. And they were with Him through thick and thin. He longed to drink water from the well of Bethlehem and these three mighty men went across in jeopardy of their lives because of their love and commitment to David. These were men whose hearts God had touched. When God touches hearts to bless you, to support you they are committed. Their commitment is fueled by the supernatural.

We see someone else in 1 Kings 5:1 who was committed to David, an everlasting lover whose heart God touched to work with him. Hiram was described as “ever a lover of David.” It is beautiful to see that there are people who are so divinely connected. They are lovers of people with whom they have this connection. The Bible says “ And Hiram king of Tyre sent his servants unto Solomon; for he had heard that they had anointed him king in the room of his father: for Hiram was ever a lover of David.”

I pray that God will connect you to people who will be described as your everlasting lovers. I pray that God will bring you into divine connection with the Hirams in your life. The Hirams that will say to you, “…Blessed be the Lord this day,…,” as Hiram said in 1 Kings 5:7, “Blessed be the Lord this day which had given unto David a wise son over this great people.” Hiram is blessing Solomon because of David.

He was ever a lover of David and so he loved David’s son. When Solomon manifested wisdom, it did not evoke jealousy, it did not bring about comparison, it was not a competition. There was a divine connection between Hiram and David; it flowed because the love was of an everlasting nature. May God connect you to your everlasting lovers in the name of Jesus. People who will love you and love your children, people who will love you and love your seed; people who will be described to you as forever lovers. May God bring you to that company of agreement. May God connect you divinely to people, who will love you with the love of God, who will love you from their hearts and love everything concerning you.

Prayer Points:

I pray O Lord God Almighty that in this world of rejection and pain you will heal the wounds of rejection by connecting your people to the people who have been touched in their hearts to love them. Hiram was ever a lover of David, and he blessed David and blessed God for David when he heard of Solomon’s wisdom. I pray that God will bring into your life people who will love you with an everlasting love, that you will have relationships not of comparison or competition but of compassion and complement.

O Father God, everything in the Word of God is obtainable by us through you. And so today, Lord, I bring before you our need for the Hirams who will be everlasting lovers who will bless the Lord for our sake. I pray that in this season of divine connection you will give us sensitivity and a consciousness of the people who are ever our lovers. Deliver us from the relationships of resentment, competition and comparison, for your Word says that they that measure themselves with themselves or compare themselves with themselves are not wise. Father, we are tired of foolish relationships. We pray O Lord you connect us to our forever lovers; people who will be our everlasting lovers as described in your Word, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
