Divine Connection: A Band of Men

Scripture Reading: 1 Samuel 10:26

Divine Connection: A Band of Men

The book of 1 Samuel 10: 20-27 says “And when Samuel had caused all the tribes of Israel to come near, the tribe of Benjamin was taken. When he had caused the tribe of Benjamin to come near by their families, the family of Matri was taken, and Saul the son of Kish was taken: and when they sought him, he could not be found. Therefore they inquired of the LORD further, if the man should yet come thither. And the LORD answered, Behold, he had hid himself among the stuff. And they ran and fetched him thence: and when he stood among the people, he was higher than any of the people from his shoulders and upward. And Samuel said to all the people, See ye him whom the LORD hath chosen, that there is none like him among all the people? And all the people shouted, and said, God save the king. Then Samuel told the people the manner of the kingdom, and wrote it in a book, and laid it up before the LORD. And Samuel sent all the people away, every man to his house. And Saul also went home to Gibeah and there went with him a band of men, whose hearts God had touched. But the children of Belial said, “How shall this man save us?” And they despised him, and brought him no presents. But he held his peace.”

Verse 26 affirms that when Saul went home from the divine promotion, anointing, and enthronement as king, the Bible says there went with him a band of men whose hearts God had touched.

For every divine assignment, for every Kingdom assignment, and promotion there are people who are touched by God to support the enthroned and the anointed. In Saul’s case, there was a group of men who despised and did not respect Saul’s enthronement. There was also a band of men, divinely connected to Saul and his kingship who followed him home, showed commitment, and were a people who were willing to work with him as their king. I share this to affirm the reality of divine connections. They were men whose hearts God had touched. When God touches hearts to support a king, a person in a position of authority, there is an anointing, an enablement to support, to agree with the vision and to carry that vision because they are touched by God. That is why it is divine.
Men will follow anyone in authority but following with a heart touched by God is one of the blessings of a divine connection.

The Bible noted that not everybody approved of Saul but those whose hearts were touched were part of his team for his reign. They were part of the people who would support him, help lift up his hands, give moral and physical support, and who followed him home.

Many will follow leaders in public but they will not follow them home. Therefore, I want you to pray, and you might say, I’m not a King, I’m not Saul, but every position you are in, that is, every position that is of God and of the Kingdom of God, needs a band of men whose hearts God has touched,” 1 Samuel 10:26. Your ministry, your business, needs a band of men whose heart God has touched. Any assignment you have from God, needs a divine connection, the band of men whose hearts God has touched to work with you as King Saul experienced.

When you see this vision of the assignment there is a level of zeal, consistency, grace, sacrifice. There is an ability to make sure the vision comes through.

May God connect you and your work to a band of men whose hearts God has touched to work out your vision from God.

May God connect your business with men whose hearts God has touched to support the work. May God connect your family to a band of men whose hearts God has touched to support you. May God connect you in every transaction, in every endeavour, with a band of men whose hearts God has touched.

May God give you the grace to encounter a divine connection of this order, in the name of Jesus.

Prayer points:

Today, I want to encourage you if you have never given your life to Jesus to come forward and surrender your life to Him. Say with me, Lord Jesus, come into my heart, I accept you as my Lord and Saviour. I want you to touch my heart and touch hearts to work with me in your kingdom. In the name of Jesus, bless me with a band of men whose hearts you have touched to be in my team of agreement in my ministry to you. Amen.
