The King’s Love
Scripture Reading: Esther 2:17
“And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favour in his sight more than all the virgins; so that he set the royal crown upon her head, and made her queen instead of Vashti.”
The King’s Love
Holy Father, we thank you that you are our faithful and loving Saviour, deliverer, and comforter. You are the air we breathe. We pray that in your mercy you will give us a revelation of your love, O Lord our God.
Esther 2:17 describes how the king loved. When the King loves you he loves you above all others. Firstly, the king loved Esther above all women and secondly, she obtained grace and favour in his sight more than all the virgins. God loves you beyond the general love He has for all people. God loves everyone in the world but He loves those who are subject to Him more . The virgins are an even more elevated classification. The King’s love is manifested in a special way, beyond the general love, beyond the realm of the peculiar people, beyond the realm of those who are special; His love is greater for those who are His beloved and show commitment to Him. He gives a special love to those who obey him. The king loved Esther above all women; she obtained grace and favour more than all the virgins; and she received a royal crown upon her head. A royal crown is a crown of glory. When God puts a crown upon your head, His glory is seen on you. This glory glows from the royal crown of the head of the king’s daughter, the virgins, the ones who are obedient to him. I pray that God will cause you, man or woman, to go to the place where you will not just be a general bride of Christ or one of the virgins but you will be the obedient one, the obedient lover of God. Father, take us there we pray and set that crown upon our heads in Jesus’ name.
The Bible says the king made Esther queen instead of Vashti. Vashti was already queen. Perhaps she had gotten so used to being a queen that she had become disobedient and familiar. When he requested that she come to the party to show off her beauty, she refused. When he later summoned her to answer for herself, “she came not,” Esther 1:17. The king was looking for the beauty of obedience. What qualifies us for the King’s love is an extreme degree of obedience.
Let us see how Esther won the king’s love: “Now when the turn of Esther, the daughter of Abihail, the uncle of Mordecai, who had taken her for his daughter, was come to go in unto the king, she required nothing but what Hegai the king’s chamberlain, the keeper of the women appointed. And Esther obtained favour in
the sight of all them that looked upon her,” Esther 2:15. Because she was already used to obedience, she obeyed the chamberlain. The chamberlain of the king was the one who had charge of the virgins. Esther was wise because she knew that the chamberlain knew what the king liked. The chamberlain of King Jesus is the Holy Spirit and He knows what Jesus likes. Esther requested nothing but what the chamberlain appointed her to do. If the Holy Spirit tells you what to do and you do it, because the Holy Spirit knows the heart of the King, you will be so favoured that you will get the King’s love in a special way. Esther obeyed the king’s chamberlain. May we obey the Holy Spirit.
Esther 2:20 says, “Esther had not yet shewed her kindred nor her people; as Mordecai had charged her: for Esther did the commandment of Mordecai, like as when she was brought up with him.” Many ladies would feel well, I’m queen now, I do not need to obey my uncle anymore, but Esther was obedient even after her promotion. Many people look for promotion but once they get promoted, they become pompous, do not obey anymore, and lose their blessings. I pray that God will give us the grace to obey the Holy Spirit now and even after we have been exalted and have experienced the blessings of the King’s love.
The King’s love is the favour of God. The favour of God will cause God to bless you above the general blessings He has for the world. It will cause you to experience grace and favour beyond what is available even for His special people. The King’s love will cause a royal crown of glory to be set upon your head. The King’s love will allow you to replace disobedient people in high places because that kind of promotion only comes from God. Psalm 75 says promotion comes only from God. May the Lord set you up even as you purpose to obey Him today, even as you purpose to obey the Holy Spirit.
Prayer Points:
Father, bless your people with a revelation of your love and what is required to obtain your special favour. You are extraordinary Lord, and the manifestation of your extraordinary blessing is what we covet. Grant it to us, O Lord. May we be the King’s true lovers as you set your crowns upon our heads and bestow honour on us perpetually in Jesus’ name, Amen.
