The Lamb’s book of life
Scripture Reading: Revelation: 21:22–27
“And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life,” Revelation 21:27.
The Lamb’s book of life
God, we thank you for your favour and for your mercies that never come to an end. We pray that you plant our feet on higher ground in our walk with you, and that by your grace our name will be written in the Lamb’s book of life.
Revelation 21:22–27 says, “And I saw no temple therein for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it. And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there. And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it. And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
The Bible is talking about the city that has no need of the sun because God Himself by His glory lightens it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. Are you part of the nations that are saved and shall walk in the light of it? Are you sure of your salvation? The Lord God Almighty is God above all. He promotes, He brings down, and He sheds His light on life. It is of His grace, of His doing that every blessing reaches man.
There is no night in eternity; it is outside time, because God Himself, the Lamb of God, lightens it. Is your name written in the Lamb’s book of life? Are you qualified to enter that city that has no need of the sun? Or, will you be turned away as a defiler, one who lies, one who walks in abomination in this generation, where everybody is telling everybody else, Nothing matters anymore, saying, God does not mind. His Word is settled and it says that nothing that works abomination or makes lies will enter into that city where there is no night. If you work abomination, if you defile yourself or make lies, you are putting yourself in the city of night.
I pray that God will give each one of us a desire for an upgrade spiritually, that our desire will not be that our name is written on the guest list of some important occasion, but that our name is written in the Lamb’s book of life. Those who matter on earth and consider their earthly life as the price they pay are short-changing themselves. Those who want to matter forever examine themselves; they look at their faith, whether they are giving good pleasure, whether they are working for God. When you begin to walk in the light of God, when you surrender your life to Jesus, you will become a Christian not by denomination, not by religion, not by church attendance or family inheritance in a church, but by a personal decision to walk with Jesus in obedience. When you walk in that path of light with Jesus, you will have no night and He will be your Saviour, counselor, justifier, undertaker, and your exceeding glory.
Prayer Points:
I pray that you will take a look at your personal walk with Jesus. Are you with Him all the time? Do you talk to Him? Do you pray to Him? Is He your hope? Is He your help? Is He your righteousness, your hope of glory? Is He the one you know that through Him your name will be in that Lamb’s book of life? I pray that you will live with Him eternally. I pray that you will not be disqualified. In Revelation, God is separating what He wants from what He does not want. He definitely does not want those who continue as defilers, abominators, liars, whoremongers, adulterers, and the confusion that the world has brought forth. He is placing a divide between His people, the people of the Word, and the people of the world. I pray that you choose to be on the side of the Word of the Lord Jesus. I pray that you put your hand in His and let Him lead you and bless you with eternal life so that your name will indeed be found in the Lamb’s book of life, in Jesus’ name.
