Blessed Is He

Scripture Reading: Revelation 22:6–17
“And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done,” Revelation 22:6.

Blessed Is He

After affirming these sayings as faithful and true, the Lord sent His angel to explain what would follow: “Behold I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book. And I John saw these things, and heard them.

And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things. Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellow servant and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God. And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand. He that is unjust, let him be unjust still, and he which is filthy let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy let him be holy still. And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. For without are dogs, and sorcerers and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely,” Revelation 22:7–17.

God is calling for a separation. He is making a demarcation between those who are sensitive to Him and those who are here for themselves. He says blessed is he that keepeth the sayings and prophecies of this book, the Bible. The Word of God causes those who believe to be blessed, to be enabled to prosper. John said that when he saw and heard these things he fell down to worship the angel. But the angel told him, Do not worship me; worship God. We need people like this amongst us in the church today; people who would direct listeners to worship God alone.

The angel then told John not to seal the sayings of the prophecies. We are not to hide them or keep them to ourselves. We are to let the unjust and filthy to remain the way they are, and the righteous and holy to continue to walk in righteousness, for the Lord is coming quickly and His reward is to give every man according to his work.

God is calling us to take note of our work. He says He is Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last and blessed are they that do His commandments that they may have a right to the Tree of Life freely, Revelation 22:13–14. Earlier we talked about the book of life; now we are talking about the Tree of Life. He says if you are in the Kingdom and you maintain the commandments of God, if you take the prophecies and proclamation of God as truth, then you are blessed. Do not let Satan divert you with sorcerers, idolaters, whoremongers, murderers, and liars because Jesus is the root and offspring of David, the bright and morning star, Revelation 22:15. If you keep His commandments and the word of these prophecies, you will be blessed. I encourage you to have a new relationship with the Word of God so that you will be blessed today.

You cannot keep what you do not have within. You cannot have the Word if you do not read it. You cannot read it if you do not have a Bible. You will not buy a Bible if you do not believe that what is in it is for you personally. But I tell you that to be enabled, empowered, and blessed, and to have the ability, and reality of prosperity, you must keep the sayings of the Word of God. If you do so, this last chapter of the Bible says you will have the right to the Tree of Life and will enter through the gates into the New Jerusalem. The Lord Jesus says He is coming quickly. Are you ready?

Prayer Points:

I pray that the Lord Jesus will come into your life. Are you ready to receive Him into your heart today? If you have never given your life to Jesus pray with me, “Dear Lord Jesus, I surrender my life to you. Write my name in the book of life. Give me the grace to keep the sayings and prophecies of the Bible. Bless me that I may have the right to the Tree of Life, that I may enter in through the gates into the New Jerusalem, into the Kingdom of God, that I may reign with you eternally.”

Father, I pray that you wake us up to the reality of the Kingdom, that your Word is the standard, that your Word is the test of our Christianity. Give us the grace to keep it, to preach it, to work and be blessed according to the Word in Jesus’ name. Amen.
