Time Sensitive People

Scripture Reading: Psalms 90:10-12

“So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom,” Psalm 90:12.

Time Sensitive People

As Christians, we are a time-sensitive people. Time is the period between two eternities.  We came from eternity past and we will be going to eternity in the future, and that period between the two eternities is called time. What does it mean to be sensitive? To be sensitive means to “respond to,” respond to a person, to a time, to an environment, to an action, or a mission. We should be time-sensitive. Time is computed by years, months, weeks, days, hours, minutes, seconds, and moments. So, we should count the years as months, count the months as weeks, and count the weeks as days.

In Ephesians 5:16 the Word of God says to us, “Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”  Psalms 90:10-12 says, “The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away. Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath. So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.”

One challenge we have as Christians is procrastination. Yes, it harasses, oppresses, and steals our time. Even if we live to be one hundred, our time is still limited. That is why we have to seize the time and not leave for tomorrow all the things we need to do for God today. We are sensitive to time. We respond to time. Christian what are you doing for the Kingdom with the time that He has given you?  There are many who are no longer alive.  They cannot praise or pray anymore. They cannot be part of the active Kingdom of God here on earth anymore because their time has expired; but your time is still here.  My prayer for you today is that you respond to time positively, that you use your time well, and that you pray to God, that He will teach you and give you the grace to number your days.  You do not have unlimited time.  Where are the people who were famous last year with the gospel and the Kingdom? We read their books; they all responded to time and their purpose, and they have moved on to eternity. But, you are here by the grace of God. Seize the time; use it for the Kingdom of God. Let us stop procrastinating. Let us stop leaving for tomorrow the things we must do today. That great mission that you will accomplish for God tomorrow, do it today.

There’s an interesting story about how the devil tried to send some demons to stop Christians from serving God. One demon said, “You know I’m going to tell them there’s no God.” And the devil said to them, “Don’t even bother, they won’t believe you. It’s too late, they already believe there’s a God.” Another one came and said, “I’ll go and tell them that there is a God, but they can serve him tomorrow.” And the devil sent him, and that demon is still at work in this world.

The average Christian has a great plan for what they will do tomorrow; but what are they doing with today? Yesterday is a canceled check. It is gone.  Tomorrow is a promissory note.  It is not here yet. You cannot cash it now. But today is the cash you have.  Spend it wisely.  Spend it for God.  The Bible says to number our days that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. Applying your heart to wisdom is to use accurate information to your own advancement. The most accurate information you can get today is in the Bible. Now if you take that information and apply your heart to it and use it well, you are a wise person. And as long as you are working the Word of God into your life, you will be using your time well.  Have you prayed today?  Have you praised today?  Have you encouraged someone today?  Have you decided that you will press delete on anything that harassed you yesterday and start anew? Beloved, resolve to do so, for we need to redeem the time because the days are evil. Let us be conscious of the fact that we are a time sensitive people.  We are also sensitive to our environment. So, spend your time in a positive environment. Be Holy Spirit sensitive. If you are in a place where you do not sense the Holy Spirit, move on. You are also a mission sensitive person.  Your mission with the Holy Spirit, your destiny, is for a time. Your goal in life is for a time.  Please in the name of Jesus, I pray that you will apply your heart unto wisdom and fulfill your destiny on earth to the glory of God.

Prayer Points:

Lord God Almighty, restore the years in my life that the locusts have eaten.  Give me the grace to be time sensitive.  Deliver me from wasting time, waiting for that good thing tomorrow, and doing nothing about the little things around me. O Holy Father, deliver me from the demon of procrastination and insensitivity to time, I pray in the name of Jesus. I know I have wasted a lot of time in my life. I pray, O Lord, that you will heighten my sensitivity to the Spirit. Help me to discern the Spirit in every environment and to respond to the Holy Spirit personally as a Christian. Help me, Lord God Almighty, with your grace to understand my purpose, and to fulfill my destiny.

I praise you, O Father God that you sent me here for a purpose; teach me Lord to be purpose sensitive. You have taught that Abraham was a man of destiny, Isaac was a man of delight, and Jacob was a man of discipline.  Through your grace, O Lord, help me make good use of my time, in the name of Jesus, I pray.

If you have never at any time given your life to Jesus, this is the time to do it.  Be time sensitive and pray with me right now and say, “Lord Jesus, I surrender my life to you. I pray in the name of Jesus that you will write my name in the book of life. Give me your Holy Spirit and give me the grace to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit, in the name of Jesus, that I may fulfill my destiny on earth.”  God Bless you in Jesus’ name. Amen.
