His Mouth Is Most Sweet
Scripture Reading: Song of Solomon 5:8–16.
“His mouth is most sweet: yea, he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, and this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem,” Song of Solomon 5:16.
His Mouth Is Most Sweet
Who is your beloved? Your beloved is that one who is active in love towards you. Your beloved is not your husband, not your best friend, not your brethren, not your mother, not your child, not your son nor your daughter. Your beloved is the one who “actively” manifests and expresses love toward you. To be beloved means your love is adorned; it is evident, you wear it. You do not become bejeweled by simply owning jewels; you become bejeweled when you wear the jewels. In the same way, owning love does not mean you are practicing it. When you begin to act out love, you become the beloved. The one who is capable of always acting out love, not just thinking love but is actively loving you, is the Lord Jesus. He is the one whose mouth is most sweet. He has everlasting love: “having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end,” John 13:1. He did not love them in the morning and neglect them in the afternoon, then love them again in the evening.
He loves them all the time and loves them to the end. That is why He is the Beloved, and that is why He should be your Beloved.
Verse 16 in Song of Solomon says, “His mouth is most sweet.” His mouth is not sweet because He has eaten sugar. It is sweet because it comes forth with words that heal, words that refresh, words that empower. Whenever God thinks of you, His thoughts are of peace and of good, because He is your Beloved.
Are you seeking Jesus, your Beloved, like the woman in these verses is seeking Him? Have you heard from the Lord today? Have you heard his sweet mouth speak words of love and encouragement to you? Many of us seek love in the wrong places. Instead, seek a revelation of your Beloved by turning to His Word and receiving His Word as gospel to you. Receive His Word for direction, refreshment, revival, and healing.
Receive His Word because the Word from His mouth is most sweet.
Come back to God; be reconciled to Him, for He has a store of blessings awaiting you. If you are not born again, if you have never received Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour, you are missing an experience with the sweetest mouth you can ever kiss, the sweet mouth of Jesus. Brethren, Jesus is your best friend; He is your Beloved. Stay close to His Word; stay close to Him; stay faithful to Him.
