Who Touched Me?

Scripture Reading: Mark 5:25–34
“And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes? And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me?,” Mark 5:30–31.

Who Touched Me?

Father God, upgrade us so we may become people who touch you with faith and receive from you all that you have for us.

Have you touched Jesus lately so that His virtues are now manifesting in your life? Can Jesus speak about your contact with Him or are you merely part of the multitude that has thronged Him? Mark 5:25-34 is an account of one woman whose strong faith and focus on Jesus brought the answer to her twelve-year-long prayer.

“And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague. And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes? …. And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing. But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth. And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague,” Mark 5:25–34.

One noteworthy characteristic of this woman was her certainty. The Bible calls her a certain woman. Certainly, she had been ill for twelve years. Certainly, she had suffered much under many physicians. Certainly, she had spent all that she had. Certainly, she was not getting better. Yet, she had heard of Jesus, and with certainty, she did something with what she had heard. It takes a great degree of certainty, of anchored faith, to touch not the actual skin of Jesus, but merely His clothes. She had such great faith in Jesus that she was certain that if she touched something that He had touched she would be made whole.

When certainty in your spirit meets with spiritual certainty of healing, a miracle takes place. The certainty in the healing plan and virtue of Jesus collided with the certainty in the woman’s faith and she was healed. The power that is in Jesus transmitted through the clothes He wore and she touched that power. Her actions caused Jesus to say, “Who touched my clothes?” Clearly, Jesus monitors where His power goes after it flows out of Him.

Jesus knew that power had gone out of His Spirit and body and through His clothes even though there was a crowd thronging Him. This multitude was pressing and pushing but there was no certainty in their minds that the power would heal them; they were not all- seeking Jesus’ power. Jesus is looking for certainty, for people with faith who believe that contact with any part of Him will bring about their healing.

Touch the Lord with faith, with praise, with communion with Him. Touch Jesus and let His power heal you of all your physical and spiritual diseases.
