Vulnerabilities
Scripture Reading: 2 Timothy 2:20–26
“And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will,” 2 Timothy 2:26.
Vulnerabilities
Father God, we thank you for the great things you have purposed for our lives now and in eternity. Release the anointing for dominion into the lives of all your children, in the name of Jesus.
It is clear that God wants us to have dominion over all the earth. In Genesis 1:26, God made us in His image for that very purpose. In order to achieve this, we must first shed the load of every weight or sin that is a point of struggle. Next, we must determine to cover all our vulnerabilities. If your weakness is drinking soda, do not keep stocking your fridge with soda and contending that “it is only for guests.” Instead, buy water or juice. Cover your vulnerability by not buying soda and you will become the one who will have dominion over that weakness.
The example I gave may seem trivial, but the principle behind it is not. In fact, it is biblical. In order to be a vessel of honour and prepared for God’s use, we are to purge ourselves from things that dishonour. “Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes. And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will,” 2 Timothy 2:22–26.
If you are to dominate, you must be a vessel unto honour; one dedicated to righteousness. I pray that the Lord will cause you to shine forth as gold and you will have dominion by determining to cover your vulnerabilities and pull yourself out of the snare of the devil.
Many of us know where we are weak but we do not run away from the situation. We say foolishly, “I can handle this.” You may love to drink alcohol and keep going to the bar insisting that you are only going there to talk to friends. If you want to have dominion you will have to stop going where your favourite vulnerability is being served. Cover your vulnerability; flee youthful lust, flee from the things you struggle to overcome.
Identify your weak areas and then cover yourself by avoiding them. Besides fleeing from a particular location or situation, we must cover ourselves by staying away from certain people and surrounding ourselves with others. If your weak area is gossip, cover your vulnerability by avoiding your partners in gossip. Gossiping is a sin. The Word of God says you must follow peace, righteousness, and faith with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart. Seek out and surround yourself with people who are striving for righteousness, faith, and peace; those who are calling on the Lord with a pure heart. If you have friends who pray instead of gossip, your prayer life will improve and your gossiping will diminish.
If your weak area is idleness, avoid your idle friends. Befriend those who are diligent in their work. As you watch them work, their work ethic will become embedded in your spirit and you also will begin to work. The Lord Jesus said, “My Father worketh hitherto, and I work,” John 5:17. There is no room for idleness or laziness for the one who will dominate.
Another way to cover your vulnerability is to make a plan and adhere to it. If procrastination is your problem, plan your day. If financial recklessness is your issue, plan your finances. Have a clear understanding of your current finances, what they ought to be, and how to get there. Cover your vulnerabilities and purge yourself of the things that make you weak; for these things make it impossible for you to have dominion.
Prayer Points:
Are you in dominion today? If you want to dominate, you must decide to align and agree with God’s plan for your life. Father God, in the name of Jesus, give us the grace to identify our weaknesses, cover our vulnerabilities, and dominate according to your plan. Make the necessity of having dominion become a reality for us. Amen.
